Large sterling silver serving spoon made circa 1850 by Whiting. It has a lovely, three dimensional calla lily at the end and the detailed leaves at the top of the bowl. The bowl measures approximately 3.5" at its longest. The handle measures 8.5" long. It has a gilded bowl and is in excellent condition.

Offered is this beautiful and rare, hand-painted (artist-signed), iridescent bronze glass vase, made most likely by Thomas Webb of Stourbridge, England, around 1900. The vase is 11 1/4 inches (21,5 cm) tall and 4 1/2 inches (11,5 cm) wide. Except for a small rim-chip (see last picture), the vase is in very good condition. Unsigned - probably made by Thomas Webb (based on the bronze-glass used in the vase).

A fire polished early Galle vase of orange florals on a colorless ground. Th \e top of the vase has a tricorner rim. The 3 3/4 inch tall vase is engraved with a mark used during the period from 1890 to 1894.

Jewelers produced tie pins in the 19th century to meet the increasing demand for novelty jewelry. The spiral ridge near the top of the pin helps to hold the item of clothing, whether it be a tie or a scarf, securely in place. The increasingly liberated and activism of women toward the later half of the 19th century gave rise to a new class of sporting jewelry. Many an equestrienne was wearing horseshoe pins to the lapel of her riding clothes by the 1880's...

Lovely panel-cut footed crystal compote, the stem with a blown teardrop. The foot is shaped to conform to the panel cutting. The crystal is top quality, with excellent weight and color. The bottom has a polished pontil.

A fine pair of mirror image blue opaline glass vases with enameled butterflies and flowers. Attributed to Thomas Webb & Sons, these date circa 1860-1880. Outstanding sterling silver master salt spoon in a rococo pattern by Gorham. I have not been able to put a name to this assymetrical pattern, although it is very similar to "Marie Antoinette" and "Dresden". The bowl is parcel gilt. The reverse is marked with Gorham's old hallmark.

A fine American tinsel or foil painting depicting a wreath of flowers, with a bird, around a grouping of fruit and foliage. The wreath is on a variation of the relatively rare "snowflake" type of background. This technique appears to have been done primarily in the 1870's period. The frame and wooden backboard are original.

There is a crack in the glass at the top left, and a small piece of glass is missing...

A late Victorian c1890-1900 moulded 5-1/2" milk glass vase with a high relief scene of a Dutch mother and child at the seashore or lake. The child carries a small sailboat and this unsigned vase has blue sprayed on colour. This decorative vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs; by their nature these items were mildly crude in their manufacture and there are minor imperfections on the glass and on the sprayed colour...

An unusual foil, or tinsel, painting depicting two birds hovering over a large flowering plant. The painting is done basically in tones of taupe and green. The frame is period and is most likely original. The back is sealed with paper that appears to have been a student's calligraphy practice.

Condition is very good, with some very minor paint separation at some points on the edges. The grayish areas in the painting are shadows from when the photograph was taken...

Unusual lightweight original watch chain of made of gunmetal, an alloy of copper and tin that was used to make decorative chains, purses, brooches, buckles and other items during the Victorian era. Our chain has alternating links and balls throughout and the pattern is consistent and uninterrupted (this is something we look for and is important because it shows the chain is in its original condition with no links removed)...

An ornately hand-engraved English sterling silver pierced sifter spoon, fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1893. This 5-3/8" spoon has a finely pierced bowl and a PW monogram; it has the maker's mark for Atkin Brothers and it weighs 29.3 grams. This ancient bellows, 9 pounds in weight and 50 inches long, 15 inches across at the widest point, appears to be of Pennsylvania origin, (judging from the colorful "hex" symbol associated with furniture from the area). I am hardly a specialist in Pennsylvania folk art, but thought the hex symbol would permit this to be safely placed in that category...

Two bowls and a lidded box in blue opaline glass. The bowls undecorated, the box with some gilt. All three French and from the 2nd empire / Napoléon III period, c 1850’s. The blue colour is the same as the “bleu céleste” so much en vogue in Sèvres porcelain of the time. Height of larger bowl: 3 ¼”/8 cm, diameter 4 ¾”/12 cm, diameter of box "2 ¾ / 7 cm. The box with polished base. Condition: wear to the gilt (cf. pics).

These darling 2 1/2" tall Koala bears are antique velvet. They have some kind of metal buttons for eyes and noses. Their little paws wrap around the real nut shells. They have old red ribbons around their necks. The ribbons are old but may not be original. The velvet has lost some of the pile but it is not noticeable with the foundation fabric being the same color. They are a little bit soft with an inner core of wood so they sit nicely. You can tell they are best friends. Circa 1890

A nice 19th C. black wool spaniel dog with a red tape collar. He has wire enforced legs. His wool shows areas of wear but no holes. He is 7" long and 7" tall. He has a great little face.

A matching pair of American coin silver 3-3/4" master salt spoons, made and stamped with the Albert Coles hallmarks (in business 1835-75). The marks are slightly worn, but still clearly visible (more so than our picture). These spoons have a CAG monogram, and they are in excellent vintage condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs...

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in England by Davenport between 1850 and 1870...

Stunning cut Bohemian glass powder jar with top-notch polychrome enameling. The lid is decorated with a wonderful scene of an 18th century gentleman surrounded by bowers of flowers. The sides of the jar are decorated with a wreath of flowers and acanthus leaves. The sides are cut in a St-Louis diamond pattern. The rims of both the jar and the lid are gilt. The bottom of the jar is cut with oval printies alternating with mitres. Unsigned, but definitely the work of Lobmeyr.

An antique watercolor painting of an early Maine farm house with out buildings. It is a modest setting but with a very neat and tidy welcoming look. It is 6 by 9" and with mat and frame is 9 3/4" by 13". It show lines where is was folded at one time. I have not had it out of the frame. ( I bought this in an estate sale in Maine so I am assuming it is Maine but it doesn't have to be.)

An example of American folk art drawing: watercolor of roses on the stem with leaves, created circa 1840 by an artist working in the distinctive style of the time. The piece measures 9 1/4" by 7 1/4" (12 3/4" by 10 3/4" in faux wood grain frame of the period). Since it is that old, the paper shows evidence of the great age; there is browning/foxing at lower corners/along right side as shown. Someone, perhaps the artist, interestingly made intentional pinholes in the paper in the rose at right...

This pair of porcelain vases was produced in England by Royal Worcester in the 1870s. They were made especially for the retailer, Richard Briggs, of Boston. They measure 8 ½ inches tall and 6 inches wide. The design is Japonesque, simulating lacquer ware, sitting on a wooden base. They are hand painted with birds and flowers that complement each other. They are painted on both sides with different designs. It is good fortune they have survived as a pair for so many years as they were mean...

Offered is this very rare 'Diamond glass' (produced by blowing compressed air), English glass vase, made around 1850, most likely by Ricardson and may have been designed by Thomas Webb (when he was still at Richardson). Elegant, well crafted Gorham footed centerpiece bowl with applied handles. The interior of the bowl is gilded. The handles have a petal motif with a bead at each tip. The centerpiece measures 7" high by 11" wide including the handles. Without the handles, it is 5 3/8" high and has a diameter of 9". There is a unique and beautiful monogram at the bottom. Marks on the base are a lion, anchor, "G" and 310. The marks indicate coin silver from 1863-1865. The piece is in excellent condition.

A striking and colorful painting on silk of a signet ring with, not surprisngly, the word "Signet" and the date 1870; period frame; 11 1/4" by 9 1/2" framed size, 8 1/2" by 6 1/2" sight size

C1880 Victorian buckle bracelet beautifully engraved with clover leaves and a geometric design. The bracelet is stamped "Sterling". Buckle bracelets became very popular when Queen Victoria wore the Order of the Garter on her arm. The bracelet measures 1 3/16" wide. The interior dimensions are 1 7/8" wide by 2 1/8" long.

Originally made for fruit circa 1860, today this antique Coin Silver folding knife might become a handy tool for another use. Small and lightweight, one side of the delicate silver engraved handle is monogrammed in script CGT, the other side awaits the initials of a new owner. This banneret weather vane, found in upstate New York, is constructed of sheet and wrought iron, and has an incredible presence and visual impact. Featuring a flag with a central cut-out, scrollwork on either side of the flag, and an ornate three dimensional flower blossom at the end, it exemplifies the whimsy that one looks for in great items of folk art.

A striking and extremely rare hooked rug featuring a peacock displaying its beautiful plumage. This is a very graphically strong depiction, striking in its design.
