A very rare intact pottery Jug, Varde in Denmark, ca. 16th.-18th. century AD.

These black-glazed pottery jugs and pots were made from medieval times to 19th. century. This particular jug is one of the finest examples we've seen from the region around Varde that produced the best pottery in Jutland. Finely made with glossy black glaze.

Size: 22 cm. tall, incl. the intact lid.

A black lacquered papier mâché wine coaster, the sides enhanced with an unusual gilt pattern of stylized grape leaves and tendrils along with thistles. The decoration is in excellent condition, with a nice warm patina.

An elegantly proportioned and executed Georgian wine flute of lead metal. The drawn trumpet bowl sits above a double series opaque twist (DSOT) stem which is comprised of a pair of spiral threads around a central gauze. Conical foot with rough, snapped pontil.

These 6 porcelain egg cups were produced in England by Minton in the mid 19th century. We have seen this pattern attributed to Minton in our research. The cups measure 2 inches high and the openings are 2 inches in diameter. The porcelain is unglazed white parian. The interiors of the cups are glazed. Outstanding brass match holder the pocket formed in the shape of a shield and punch-decorated in a stars and stripes pattern. The pocket is surmounted by a punch-decorated American eagle underneath the motto “In God We Trust”. This motto was adopted in 1863 as a subtle government reminder during the Civil War that God was on the side of the Union troops fighting to end the evil of slavery. A very good sterling silver wine bottle or decanter coaster by Gorham. The flared lip is heavily decorated with a floral scrolled border in the Rococo style. The repousse decoration is finely done. The bottom of the coaster is fully hallmarked with one of the older Gorham hallmarks, the design copyright date 1889, the pattern number 325 and the date symbol for 1891.
