Cut steel brooch, early Victorian, c 1850 or possibly somewhat earlier, with hand cut studs riveted to a brass plate. Some of the studs with as much as 21 facets. Cut steel jewelry were often used in the evening, to create a sparkling, diamond-like effect. Width "1 ½ / 4 cm, height "2 ½/ 6,5 cm. Condition: a few studs missing (cf pics).

Offered is this beautiful, tall, hand-painted French glass vase - it was probably made by Joseph Brocard, a contemporary of Emile Galle, based on the enameling. Polished pontil. Unusual lightweight original watch chain of made of gunmetal, a material used to make decorative chains, purses, brooches, buckles and other items during the Victorian era. Gunmetal is an alloy of copper and tin. Our chain has a lovely complex knot link that is shown closeup in the images. It is hard to imagine the time it took to construct such a chain by hand, and a similar link could not be made today. Gunmetal watch chains were both decorative and functional...

A rare, early English flow blue covered entree or casserole dish c1860. This serving piece stands 7" high with the lid, and it measures 11-1/4" x 10-1/2". It has a floral style motif, and it has a pseudo Chinese mark, minor variants of which were used by Charles Meigh (1835-49), Charles Meigh & Son (1851-61) and also Job Meigh (c1805-34), all of Hanley, Staffordshire; we feel it dates c1850-60 but it could be of earlier manufacture...

The term "pique" comes from the French word "piquer" (to prick) and describes a method of inlaying gold or silver onto tortoiseshell. Three perfume bottles: a white opaline bottle with arabesque decoration in blue and gilt, a white opaline with a winding snake in blue and a dark blue bottle with decoration of small flowers in white enamel and gilt. A Victorian bisque double shell young boy figural mantle vase from the late 1800s. This 5-1/4" tall figurine is fully hand painted and of top quality - quite like the fineness of Schafer & Vater. It consists of a young boy with a hat seated between two shells. The vase is in a nice greenish/blue colour and it has lots of gold jewelling. It is unsigned except for a painted 74 and a faint impressed underglaze 524 (we think)...

Marks in back include Anchor, Lion and small "b" with maker's mark of "W A" all of which are in depressed cartouches, also numbers 5 & 2 superimposed and an 8 as model or style number.

Known as a box link or Venetian chain, this 60 inch Victorian long guard watch chain is hand forged and was made by welding together hollow section rings. Such chains were called " long guards". A rare goblet made in the Gothic Revival style by the legendary French glass firm Compagnie des Cristalleries de St Louis. The deep relief and substantive weight betray its fine origins.
