Essex crystal carving of a horse and jockey surrounded by rose diamonds. Perhaps they are symbolic of the winners wreath. The crystals are carved in reverse or intaglio into the flat back to create a three-dimension trompe l'oeil effect. The image is then painted in realistic detail. The pin measures 15/16 in diameter.

This porcelain bottle was produced in Berlin by FA Schumann between 1850 and 1869.  The bottle measures 6 inches high and 3 5/8 inches by 3 1/8 inches at the bottom. The porcelain is molded with scrolls and shells.  There are two finely hand painted landscapes.  They are both identified.  One is a church in Bulha. Meissen blue and white cup and saucer. Decoration in the “Blue Fluted” pattern originally designed by Meissen c 1740, later to be used by other manufacturers, esp. Danish Royal Copenhagen. The slim handle, ribbed inside, shape of the sword marks and the mark 44 altogether suggest a date between 1818 and 1860 (cf. Graesse on Meissen, 110). A marvelous pair of Dresden or Old Paris porcelain candlesticks with carefully painted cherubs holding to each nozzle while upholding while perched on stumps. A beautiful hyacinth bulb vase by the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company, decorated in opaque overlay cut to clear in in a panel and trailing vine design. The top is enhanced with a cobalt blue lip and the bottom is slightly footed and star-cut. The overall form is very elegant. The shape was blown in the company's #123 mold and the cutting is identical to known labeled pieces. Vases of this shape were used to hold a single flowering bulb, usually a hyacinth, but sometimes a daffodil or tulip.
