An English sweetmeat glass of exceptionally elegant form, the flared cup bowl with moulded flutes on an 8 sided teared Silesian stem with three basal collars above a domed moulded foot. 6 5/8 inches tall, with a bowl diameter of 4 1/8 inches and a foot diameter of 3 1/3 inches. Perfect condition. Rough, snapped pontil.

A very similar glass with a less developed bowl (shown in the last picture), was exhibited at Delomosne and Son as part of the Seton Veitch Collection.

A Japanese tankard with lid made for the Western market, or at least in the Western taste, with an Imari palette. Traces of the gilding are still visible. The blue is underglaze, the other colors overglaze enamels. 8 inches (20.5 cm) tall with cover and approx. 5 ¾ inches (14.5 cm) across handle.

Attributed to South Staffordshire, England, Possibly Bilston, late 18th century. The “gingham finish” was principally produced in this area. By placing a piece of cambric over solid ground color and then applying white enamel this finish was achieved. The three dimensional decoration was also found in the area. It was normally created by applying several layers of enamel. In addition, the unusual heart shape has been found in other Bilston boxes.
