This porcelain cup and saucer was produced in England by Royal Doulton before 1920. The saucer is 4 1/2 inches in diameter and the cup is 2 1/4 inches high. The set is made of fine, white bone china. It is decorated with swags of tiny rose buds. The surface of the cup and saucer is covered with tiny pale green enamel beads reminiscent of Coalport. Lovely sterling silver sugar tongs in an elegant pattern that seems more Georgian than Victorian. The tongs are of the finest quality and are large enough to be used as bonbon or ice tongs, as well as for sugar. The end has an attractive period “E” monogram. The inside is fully hallmarked for London, 1845-46, and also has the Victoria duty mark. The maker’s mark is “SH/DC”.

This porcelain dish was produced in France by Pouyat Limoges around 1900. It is 9 inches in diameter and 1 1/2 inches deep. The porcelain is molded into three separate sections with a handle in the center. The decoration is a factory transfer of geraniums and foliage. They flow around the dish in an art nouveau style. This is a very fine example of a simple, yet elegant First Period Dr. Wall Worcester coffee cup. The painting is very nicely executed, and features a large, loose bouquet of flowers, and other scattered blooms, including a purple tulip. The handle is grooved and there is a gilded rim.

The cup is 2 1/2" tall and has a diameter of 2 3/8". The condition is superb, with no chips, cracks, restoration, or scratches. The enamels are vibrant, and the gilding is 99.9% intact.

How often do you see a flame stitch mat? This one still has vibrant color. The foundation is a loomed homespun. It has a spider web fringe that is so fine and beautiful. I have taken pictures of the 3 areas of with condition problems. There are two small holes and one larger one. The fringe also is sparse in many areas around the mat. That said this is a rare form of flame stitch and is paper thin and very finely woven. It is mid 1700's and is 6" by 11".

A superb early vault or bankboks key in exceptional condition, still with the original blueing of the steel, late 17th. century.

Though relatively short the key is very substantial in hand and finely made, perhaps by a gunmaker. The stem is short and fluted, hollow made and the bit very sturdy with cut slots. Such a stem was a new invention for security keys in the period, making it much, much harder to copy.
