This is the second largest size in this mold; the vase stands 12 1/8 inches (31 cm) tall. Vases larger than 10 inches are uncommon for Rookwood. Glazed in Oxblood red with green highlights on the rim. Vase has impressed RP flame mark with VII below, and an impressed 951 B. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks or repairs. Circa 1907

A pewter tankard marked with the partial touch of John Townsend on the bottom of the inside of the bowl. There are no other marks except the engraved initials “I or J Y” on the front of the tankard. It is 7 inches (17.7 cm) tall and about 6 ½ inches (15 cm) from the front to the back edge of the handle.

A fine pan-topped square bucket bowl glass engraved with a fruiting vine having polished grapes, raised on a stem containing a multi-spiral air twist. Conical foot with polished pontil. Condition is excellent with no flaws. The apparent cloudiness in the bowl in the first photo is not present in real life. The height of the glass is 5 5/8", with a bowl diameter of 2 1/2" and a foot diameter of 2 3/4".

Twelve eight pointed stars made of cotton printed in orange with small yellow clover-like shapes arranged in rows of twos and threes with alternating white squares all enclosed in three bands of the same printed fabric. A very well designed and executed eight point Star of Bethlehem pieced cotton quilt with excellent quilting. The pieces around the edges are white with very small pale blue printed sprigs. The pieces for the star are all solid colors. The backing is printed green cotton in a small pattern. Quilted with feather wreaths in the corners and partial ones between the points of the stars. All of the sewing is done by hand. 72 inches square.

Hand painted in dark underglaze blue with a serrated rim this large bowl is soft paste porcelain. The decoration of a Chinese arrangement of flowers and twining plants is typical of Tournai. Height 4.5 inches (11 cm) and 11 inches (28 cm) diameter. Late 18th century.

Condition: no chips, cracks or repairs. Some scratches to the interior of the bowl and small flaw in the body of the bowl.

This style of decoration was popular at the time and still looks excellent today.

Very nice Chinese export porcelain tea pot in Canton decoration. The slightly tapered drum-shaped body is decorated with typical Canton scenes of islands, bridges, boats, etc. and is accented with a raincloud border along the top edge. The lid, spout and handle are also decorated with typical motifs. The color is very nice with terrific clarity and depth. Likewise, the body is of nice color.

A striking quilt in a deep red and black. Most importantly the quilt has, stitched on its reverse, "Sarah amd Anne Hoit, Burlington, VT 1838". It also has, stitched at a later time, "A Present to O. Sherman 1881". It is very uncommon to find a quilt, especially such an early one, with such complete information as to the maker, place and date. This handled American coin silver cup was made by William K. Vanderslice in San Francisco, CA, circa 1870, consisting of a simple tapered cylindrical form with rope banding around rim and base. A very ornate hand chased silver hip flask with a hinged rotating bayonet cap. Monogrammed on the cap, it also has the date 1892. There is a small dent on the cap. Measures 6” high x 3.5".

This porcelain covered box was produced in France by Tressemann and Vogt Limoges around 1900. The box was sold white-ware and painted by a studio artist. It measures 7 inches in diameter and is 3 1/2 inches high. There is a portrait of a lady in a fancy hat, surrounded by pink roses and raised gilding. A row of turquoise beads accents the rim of the lid. The bottom half is colored forest green. It has a lovely, Victorian appearance. Condition: Excellent

From our European Porcelain Collection, a fine French Niderviller neoclassical-style porcelain saucer, heavily potted, late 18th century circa 1774-1784. This saucer is executed en grisaille in very fine detail of a sleeping cupid, rendered against a very dark cobalt blue ground that almost appears black. The border is richly gilded, and the reverse contains markings that stand for Count Philibert de Custine, who owned the Niderviller factory during this time period.
