Superb ornate Victorian sterling silver soup ladle in the 1882 "Aeolian" pattern by Knowles. This is just a terrific pattern--easily on par with Gorham, Whiting or any of the other great Victorian silversmiths. The handle is ornately decorated with trailing fuchsias and foliage. The bowl is formed as a large leaf with very nice engraved details. The bowl is matte finished for added texture. The back is hallmarked by Knowles.

Lovely pair of sterling silver sugar tongs with opaque turquoise and white enamel decoration. The quality of these tongs is apparent from the ornate and elegant piercing of the tips. Stamped on the inside “Sterling 1212” and hallmarked by the H. H. Curtis Co. (North Attleboro, MA, 1891-1915).

Fine large, 21 inch long, sterling silver mirrored plateau by Jean Francois Veyrat, 10 Rue De La Tour, Paris. This plateau features four cast silver hoof feet and a beveled mirror. In excellent condition with just normal antique wear to the mirror, it is fully hallmarked and has a wood bottom. Measures 21" long, 17" wide, and 2.25" high. Circa 1880.

Antique flannel dog filled with grain or sawdust that makes him feel like a bean bag and allows him to stand nicely. He has big bead eyes and replaced floppy ears. A delightful Bennington-type yellowware cow creamer with mottled brown glaze. The cow stands on a concave oval base. This example is more nicely potted than some, with good detailing in the ribcage area and a quirky facial expression. These creamers were made in both America and England, but the style of modelling suggests this is an American example. The tail has been reglued nicely, and a professional restorer could make the repair completely invisible.

A beautifully worked quilt with the "Star of Bethlehem" design, surrounded by stuffed-work flowers and vines; 87" by 81". Excellent condition.

Produced in the late 1800's, this historical Venetian glass vase is constructed with filigrana reticello and filigrana retortoli (zanfrico)with aventurine. Similar design can be found in Rossella Juncks' "the Colors of Murano in the XIX Century", page 136. Diminutive in size at 3"h x 2.5"w, this historical vase is in excellent condition, unmarked.

Measures 9 1/2" high, and roughly the same from tip of spout to end of handle, base is 5 1/2" wide and 4 1/4" deep. Beautifully engraved with foliate and scrolling designs, an oval cartouche on each side. Beading at base and top, bone finial, bone inserts on handle. An unusually nice silverplated studs box, the top decorated with repousse chrysanthemums. The only clue to the box’s purpose of holding a gentleman’s shirt studs and cufflinks is the figural stud finial on the top. The bottom is marked for the Middletown Plate Co.
