A lovely Chinese export porcelain plate, the center decorated with a court scene depicting nobles welcoming a visitor bearing a staff and basket of fruit. The scene is very nicely enameled in the famille rose palette. The border is decorated in a trellis pattern in green enamels—a most unusual treatment for a Mandarin plate. The inner and outer borders are highlighted with gilding.

Very fine early Staffordshire child's cup decorated with a pair of colorful roosters. The design was hand-colored over a rudimentary sepia-colored transfer. The pearlware glaze has a wonderful lustre. The bottom edge of the cup is decorated with a molded border.

This covered jar was produced in Germany by Wolfsohn Dresden before 1890. It has a diameter of 3 1/2 inches and is 2 3/4 inches high. The jar is ornately painted in Meissen or Vienna style. There is a scene with a horse and rider hand painted on the lid, which is rather unusual subject matter for Dresden painting. This reserve is surrounded with intricate gilding. This pair of porcelain bottles with stoppers was produced in Germany by Lamm Dresden in the late 19th century. They are 5 inches high, including the stoppers. The porcelain bodies have flowers and scallops molded into them. They are hand painted with buttercup flowers and foliage. There is a blue butterfly on each bottle. The molded decorations are accented with gold. It is wonderful to find a matched pair after so many generations.

This ceramic box with brass mounts was produced in France by Gien around 1875. It is 6 1/2 inches high and has a diameter of 4 1/4 inches. The ceramic is soft paste with a tin glaze similar to majolica. If you run your fingers around the piece, you can actually feel the enamel painting. It is richly decorated with cherubs, fountains, and ornate scrolls, all on a cobalt blue background. The designs are all hand painted. An extremely fine antique English porcelain coffee can, of flared form, made by the Chamberlain Worcester factory. The cup features a beautiful bouquet of flowers and stunning gilding on the borders, the entire interior, and the entire handle. It is fully marked with painted red script on the bottom. A large deep dish with hand painted blue lines and blue hand applied stencil flowers, roses in the center and flowers (possibly peony) and foliage around the rim. Early Doccia (circa 1750) had stenciled blue flowers on both maiolica and porcelain. I suspect that those pieces or similarly decorated mid-18th century ceramics were the inspiration for this piece. Without any manufacturers marks it is difficult to know who made this dish, but Doccia became Ginori and Cantagali, also close to Florence...
