German Westerwald Cylindrical Tankard with a Pewter Lid. Decorated with a central band of applied flower heads on a blue ground. C1700. Ht. excluding lid, 5 3/4" (14.7cm). Condition of the tankard is excellent; no chips, cracks or restoration.Pewter lid with some corrosion and a small hole.

Highly interesting and early stoneware tankard or Stein / Krug, probably Westerwald around 1580-1600 AD.

The renaissance tankard is moulded with a central frieze of six arcaded panels of courtly life, war, soldiers and a siege of a city...

A lovely and extremely rare type of Westerwald vessel with handle, Germany, c. late 16th.-early 17th. century.

The vessel decorated with fine gothic looking lions and rossettes as spacers with manganese blue.

Size: c. 22 cm. wide incl the handle and 14,3 cm tall.

Condition: Nice Very fine for the early type, completely intact but for a closed crack with short hairlines, just below the handle to the right. Never repaired and very stable and sound.

A Dutch delft polychrome hand decorated tile made between 1620 and 1650 depicting a double handled vase containing three orange flowers that fit into the space on the tile between the large painted corners. An attractive and very rare large tankard, Germany, Cologne area, dating to the 16th. century.

The tall brown saltglazed stoneware tankard, decorated with three historical emperors and great generals, namely Karl the Great, Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great with floral and figural spacers in between. Pewter lid.

Condition: F-VF, affordable since it's partly restored and with some repainting to cover the connection of the shards...

An exceptional bellarmine jug or Bartmannskrug as they are called in Europe. Made in Germany, cologne region, probably Frechen, late 16th. century AD., and exported to Holland, as it's bearing a medallion with the Coat of Arms of Amsterdam.

A floral decorated milk jug and floral decorated cover with a rose and leaves finial. The potting of the jug is fairly heavy at the bottom, the decoration of a fairly elaborate boquet and a simpler one on the other side is complimented by the yellow painted rims and decoration on the handle. An interesting blue and white hand pained porcelain plate of two scholars(?) greeting each other and a boy carrying a load in front of water with a rising moon in the far distance. There is an elaborate border including scholar’s roles on the side of the well between the rim and the center and at the outside of the rim leaf and flower border. A underglaze blue hand painted blue and white export plate depicting three sprigs of flowers enclosed in a lobed border with fleur- de-lis and on the outer border a loosely painted fence. The outer edge is painted brown. Given the vague Western references in the decoration the plate is probably after 1750. 8 7/8th inches (22.5 cm) diameter.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Very minor stacking wear. Minor firing flaws.

This is an extremely fine example of a Lowestoft tea canister, made in the 1775 - 1780 period. It is of rectangular form with sloped shoulders and a molded ridge following the outline of the sloping portion. The printed design features flowers and insects. A spectacular and rare 18th century Chelsea porcelain teabowl and saucer, each piece very finely and thinly potted and fulsomely painted with exotic birds and insects in landscapes, with a thin reddish-brown edge to the rims. A rare English soft paste porcelain copy of a Ko Imari Kinrande Kikugata Bowl with janome, bulls eye base. This class of porcelain in Japan is usually attributed to the late Edo period, c.1750-1780. This particular bowl is attributed to the Worcester factory in the Marshall Collection at the Ashomolean Museum, but it is now thought that these bowls were manufactured at the Derby factory. An oval fluted French faience dish with an oval well in the center decorated with polychrome flowers and insects and a purple rim. Painted on the back inside the foot, “No: 4.” The mark and the decoration are typical of Strasburg circa 1740. The well in the center indicates that the dish was probably the undertray for a small tureen. It is 9 x 7 x 1/3/4 inches (23 18 x 4.5 cm)

Condition: Generally good with little wear. Small chips on the rim at the four extreme points.
