This ceramic tile was produced in the United States in the 1880s or 1890s. It is unmarked but it may have been produced at the Trent Tile Company of Trenton, New Jersey. It measures 18 inches long and is 6 1/2 inches wide. The tile is decorated in high relief with a classic Greek maiden. It is light green in color with a high gloss glaze. The figural rendering is fine, exemplifying expert artistic ability. Tiles of this size are uncommon and the subject matter is quite desirable...

These 8 plates were produced in England by Coalport in the 1890s. They are named scenes of famous places in the United Kingdom painted by E. Ball. They are 9" in diameter. The borders are cobalt blue. The center of each plate has a reserve containing scenes of ruins of castles and land- scapes of the English countryside. Sky, mountains and water are painted with great skill, in vivid colors. The scenes are framed in ornate raised gilding. Elaborate raised gilding fills the cobalt border...

This set of 12 porcelain luncheon plates was produced in England by Cauldon in the late 19th century. They were made especially for Tiffany in New York. The plates measure 8 3/4 inches in diameter and 3/4 of an inch deep. The rim of the plate is thicker and raised in order to accentuate the decoration. The Centers of the plates are slightly indented. There are cobalt blue oval indentations outlined with beaded gold alternating with tiny hand painted roses and forget-me-nots on the rims...

A set of eight hand painted porcelain plates with scenic views as listed below. The lips with a peach ground and some gilding. Located in the center of each plate is the hand painted scene. The pattern number “833” and the location, painted in script in red enamel, is on the back of most of them. They were made and decorated in Britain, possibly Aynsley, circa 1880. 8 7/8 inches (20.3 cm) diameter.

This set of 10 porcelain dishes with sauce boat was produced in England by Doulton Burslem in the 1880s. The plates have a diameter of 9 inches and the sauce boat is 4 inches high. The underplate on the sauce boat is attached. Each piece is professionally hand painted with fish. The fish are painted with fine detail and outlined with raised gilding. It is interesting to see the different perspectives of each plate. These fish are coming and going in all directions...

Superb Staffordshire figural group/spill vase portraying a hunter and his lady. The hunter has his rifle, while the lady as his catch in her lap. Beautifully decorated in bright colors, this grouping is as fine as one is likely to see. Origin: England, mid-19th century. Size: 7-5/8" tall; 4-1/4" wide; 2" deep. A lovely Staffordshire pottery inkwell and quill holder in the form of a swan. The wings are painted vivid shades of pink with black and gilt accents. The bird rests on a colorful "confetti" nest. The hole in the swan's back served as the inkwell, while the two holes in the front were to hold quills. This swan is a particularly colorful example.

Origin: England, ca. 1840. Condition: excellent, no damage. Size: 3" x 2" x 3-1/4".
