The borders are cobalt blue. The center of each plate has a reserve containing scenes of ruins of castles and land- scapes of the English countryside. A set of eight hand painted porcelain plates with scenic views as listed below. The lips with a peach ground and some gilding. Located in the center of each plate is the hand painted scene. The pattern number “833” and the location, painted in script in red enamel, is on the back of most of them. They were made and decorated in Britain, possibly Aynsley, circa 1880. 8 7/8 inches (20.3 cm) diameter.

The underplate on the sauce boat is attached. Each piece is professionally hand painted with fish. The fish are painted with fine detail and outlined with raised gilding. It is interesting to see the different perspectives of each plate. These fish are coming and going in all directions...

Three child’s plates with moulded double daisy borders, transfer printed in black, Victorian, 1840’s. Impressed anchor mark and London, probably made by John Carr in Northumberland for a London retailer (cf. discussions on the internet about potteries using this mark in the early Victorian era). One plate with a lady and a little girl in a trellised garden, the other two plates with scenes from a series called Juvenile Companions. Diameter "8 ¼ / 21 cm. Condition: fine.

Height of the little jug:/ "1 ¾ / 4,3 cm, of the cups: 2 ¼"/5,5 cm, diam. of saucers: 4"/10,5 cm. All marked Copeland Spode´s Italian England. Condition: one saucer with a discreet star crack, otherwise fine.

Three(3) pieces English Pratt ware Earthenware Tea or Dessert set, consisting of dessert plate-8 1/4" diameter, smaller plate-6 1/4" diameter, tea cup-2 3/4" high and 3 1/8" diameter-top rim, saucer-1 1/8" high, 5 3/4" diameter, Cow design in front of the Castle scenery and Shepard attending Horses and Cows. One(1) small plate has marked "Pratt, 123, Fenton" on the bottom. The condition is good, there are some wear from old age in pink rim area.

A large heavy porcelain ice-water pitcher made in either America or France but decorated in America, probably by E.V. Haughwout, a major New York City retailer of porcelain, glassware and silverware. This form, with a bridge near the spout for holding back ice cubes, is also known as a “sweetheart pitcher,” because of the vaguely heart-shaped wreath on either side.
