A First Period Dr. Wall Worcester teabowl, of octagonal form, with a slightly everted rim, printed in outline and delicately hand coloured with the "Red Bull" pattern, the borders with half flowerheads alternating with green diaper panels. This is the rare early version of this pattern when Worcester first started using printed patterns. This is an extremely nice example of a Bow porcelain figure of winter from the "Rustic Seasons" group. It depicts an older man wearing a cowled garment, sitting on a mound of rocks, and warming his hands over a brazier. The brazier is set amidst flowers and leaves, with the whole scene raised on four scroll feet.

The inside of the footrim has a workman's mark which appears to be IH or JH.

A superb and graceful example of First Period Dr. Wall Worcester porcelain. The patterns on it are "La Peche" and "La Promenade Chinoise," both of which were done by Robert Hancock. Although Caughley did a very similar variation, this piece was definitely made by Worcester.

A stunning Chelsea-Derby tea bowl and saucer, finely painted in puce monochrome with scattered floral sprays and sprigs, reserved on a ground of closely packed gilded spirals. The interior of the bowl is painted with a puce rose and leaves. Both pieces are marked with a gold anchor.

Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, or restoration. Minor gilding wear to the extreme rim edges. The height of the bowl is is 1 7/8", and the diameter is 3 1/8", while the saucer diameter is 5".

A underglaze blue hand painted blue and white export plate depicting three sprigs of flowers enclosed in a lobed border with fleur- de-lis and on the outer border a loosely painted fence. The outer edge is painted brown. Given the vague Western references in the decoration the plate is probably after 1750. 8 7/8th inches (22.5 cm) diameter.

The diameter is 9 1/4" and the condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, or restoration. There are 3 very minor small brown spots on the front due to kiln impurities. It is very unusual to find them in this condition. The color of the paste might appear slightly different in the photos, but that is due to the lighting and reflection.

A creamware plate with a pierced border of alternating piercing patterns and gilt sections. A gilt bird stands in the well of the plate. The decoration is out of character for English style of the period so I would guess that the plate is Continental and from around 1800. It is 7 ½ inches (19 cm) diameter. No marks on the back.

A beautifully painted William Reid coffee cup with a large floral group and several smaller ones. Loop handle. The paste and glaze combination gives this cup a very distinct greenish gray appearance, not seen in other factories. It is difficult to capture the color properly in photos, but the first one shown in this listing comes closest to the actual color.

This piece is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or restoration. It is 2 3/8" tall, with a diameter of 2 1/16" at the top.

A striking antique English porcelain coffee cup. Made at the Worcester factory during the Dr. Wall, or First Period, it is painted with the Pu Tai pattern in beautiful, bright enamels. It shows Pu-Tai, also known as the Laughing Buddha, seated, with two attendants. Hand painted with extensive flowers a pair of porcelain soup plates made in China and decorated for the Western market about 1790. A fine and rare Bow porcelain coffee cup and saucer painted with the "Dragon Chasing (the Flaming) Pearl (of Wisdom). The interior of the cup also shows the dragon, while the exterior of the saucer is painted with clouds. One of the ways to distinguish this early Bow version is the arrow shaped tongue emanating from the mouth of the dragon. The pieces are very finely potted, and each has a workman's number 13 on the bottom. The handle of the cup is of the crabstock or twig form.

A Pair of lobed dinner plates 9 3/8 inches (23.8 cm) diameter with a dentil gilt edge and overall sprig decoration. The cornflower sprigs are primarily blue and green with a touch of red. From our European Porcelain Collection, a fine French Niderviller neoclassical-style porcelain saucer, heavily potted, late 18th century circa 1774-1784. This saucer is executed en grisaille in very fine detail of a sleeping cupid, rendered against a very dark cobalt blue ground that almost appears black. The border is richly gilded, and the reverse contains markings that stand for Count Philibert de Custine, who owned the Niderviller factory during this time period.

A silver form porcelain teapot with the vented knop on the lid and the pattern number, “N 195” in red enamel on the base. This pattern is known as the “knitting wool” pattern. 5 ¾ (14.6 cm) inches tall, 9 3/8 inches (23.8 cm) across the handle and spout.

Condition: excellent. A tiny rough spot on the lip of the spout might be a tiny glaze chip or it could be a very small firing loss.

I think this form is one of the most pleasing for late 18th century teapots.

This charming tea bowl is decorated with a Chinoiserie scene with three figures, one of them holding a bird. It dates from around 1775, and exemplifies the motifs that were so popular in that period. The interior has an iron-red border and sprig at the bottom of the bowl.

The bowl is 3 1/8" in diameter and 1 3/4" high. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, restorations, etc. There is some speckling, which is not at all uncommon, and the green in the robe of one of the figures fire...

A spectacular Chelsea porcelain covered porringer. This wonderful piece is profusely decorated, even on the inside of the bowl, with butterflies, moths, other insects, and flowers. A veritable rainbow of colors was used in the enameling. The finial on the lid is a naturalistically molded rose with hues of reds and pinks, and the handles are painted with a distinct bluish green. The underside has the Chelsea red anchor mark and displays the stilt marks indicative of Chelsea.

A pair of large Chinese made and decorated porcelain serving plates for the Western market circa 1790. Good flowers painted in a complex design covering most of the surface. The square edge appears to be gilded with something more like bronzing powder than fire gilding. 11 1/8 inches (28.5 cm) diameter.

Condition: one with minor rim chips, minor stacking wear and some black firing spots. The other with a fairly significant rim chip and associated hairline.

This is a superb, early, and rare Chinese libation cup. The paste itself appears to date from around 1735, while the decoration is most likely from around 1775.

The outside has applied polychrome lotus roots and flowers. Surrounding these are delightful vignettes of houses and boats with fishermen, the whole being further decorated with insects and birds. The interior has two large butterflies, or moths, and flowers. The base is gilded and molded to also resemble a lotus root.

A pair of dry drug jars decorated with blue leaves top and bottom and the drug name in the middle, all over a light grayish blue glaze. This form is typical of the 18th century Italian drug jars. The hand throwing on a wheel is evident on the glazed interior of both jars. 7 ¼ inches tall and 4 ¾ inches diameter, (18.5 cm tall, 12 cm diameter).

Condition; Both have chips on the base and roughness from throwing on the mouth. Both have later marking on the base with a magic marker.
