This set of 12 porcelain plates were produced in England by Mintons in 1895. The plates bear the date cipher for that year. They have a diameter of 9 inches. They are made of fine, white bone china. The rims have fan shaped molded edges that create a scalloped border. In addition, pieced work is used to accent the decoration, giving the borders a lacy appearance. An early and rare c1754 Bow porcelain sparrow beak creamer painted with oriental scenery. This fine piece had been part of the important Watney collection, and then was shown at the Amor exhibit . A lovely and rare Chaffers Liverpool porcelain miniature tea bowl, hand painted with three sprigs of flowers, the interior with a pair of leaves, the rim painted with a puce color. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, or restoration. The enameling is vibrant with no loss. Apparent losses in some spots are due to lighting in the photos, and are not present in person. The height is 1" and the top diameter is 1 5/8".

As mentioned for other similar items on the site, this type ware is often mistakenly referred to as Leeds and featheredge. In reality, many factories other than Leeds made items of this nature, and the type edge here is more properly called a molded edge. This particular plate was made by Riley, and is indicated as such with an impressed mark on the back. Being able to identify the maker does increase the value to some extent...

Wonderful Royal Worcester pitcher trimmed with gold with lovely handpainted flowers on both the front and back. There is a fabulous gold grotesque head on the spout. It has the purple Royal Worcester mark with the number 1366. It measures 10" tall x 5" diameter not including the handle. This great pitcher is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
