A fine and rare Chelsea porcelain figure of winter. The subject is an older man, obviously in distress, wearing only a wrap, and standing beside a brazier. This is a classical representation of "Winter", part of the Seasons group.

Beautifully modelled, painted, and glazed, the condition is excellent, with only a small invisible professional restoration to the thumb area. The height is 4 1/2".

A group of five small pottery figures, four of people and one of a very smush faced lion. All painted in what look like both overglaze and underglaze colors. This type of figure was two part molded and produced in quantity. The tallest is 5 inches tall. These figures date to the first quarter of the 19th century.

Condition: All have some chips and the man with his head leaning on one hand has had the base repaired.

A pearlware child’s mug with the stencil inscription in blue on the front, “A Gift from the Pottery,” in a cut corner rectangle with a seaweed surround. The top and bottom of the mug with a single blue band. The ends of the oval handle spread like a leaf. 2 1/8 inches (5.4 cm) tall, 3 ¼ inches (8.3 cm) across the handle.

A silver form porcelain teapot with the vented knop on the lid and the pattern number, “N 195” in red enamel on the base. This pattern is known as the “knitting wool” pattern. 5 ¾ (14.6 cm) inches tall, 9 3/8 inches (23.8 cm) across the handle and spout.

Condition: excellent. A tiny rough spot on the lip of the spout might be a tiny glaze chip or it could be a very small firing loss.

I think this form is one of the most pleasing for late 18th century teapots.

A William Ridgway “Oriental” green transfer printed platter with a vaguely Middle Eastern fantasy scene in the well surrounded by a border of alternating floral bouquets and Middle Eastern buildings against a sprigged green ground. On the back the Ridgway mark of an urn and beehive over the subject name, “ORIENTAL.” and the initials, “WR.” printed in green. The initials for William Ridgway were used from 1830 to 1834. A pair of porcelain dinner plates with molded basketweave edge and swirl ribbing with the lines extending into the well. Decorated with hand painted overglaze flowers and a gilt edge. The style closely resembles Meissen, but these are unmarked. Circa 1870, brown transferware platter, Staffordshire Nanking pattern, by E. Challinor. In very good condition, there is some crazing commensurate with age and some staining, most notably on the back. Measures about 18 inches long, 14" high, and 1.5" deep. Hanger included.

A large, heavily potted English pitcher with an applied strap handle. All of the strong floral decoration is handpainted except for the blue flowers which where the paint was stamped on with a cut sponge. Though it could be earlier the later date of circa 1880 is conservative. 7 3/8 inches tall, 9 ¼ inches across the handle.

Condition: Handle broken and restuck, glaze chips on the spout, firing flaw on the bottom, crazing, glaze chips on the spout and minor spots.
