An American Victorian Magazine Stand or Canterbury, with "Ex Libris" on both sides in a panel. Dimensions 12" wide x 10" deep x 18" high. From the late 19th century. In very good condition.

A wonderful late 19th or very early 20th century sheet iron weathervane in the form of a sperm whale silhouette. The vane is hand sawn and retains its old coat of oxidized green paint (may be original, but appears to be a second coat). One side still has its black painted eye. The silhouette is attached to its original copper mounting pole. Found in Maine.

From our European Collection, a fine and very ornate cast iron plant stand, late 19th century, most likely French though possibly Spanish, featuring highly detailed and animated figures gracing the corners, along with some very intricate openwork on the legs and stand surfaces.

Size and Condition: 30 inches tall, 15 inches wide, 15 inches deep. Some minor and general wear commensurate with age but really no notable flaws...

Great pair of cast iron owl andirons with glass eyes that light up from the flames of the fire. They measure 15" tall X 9 1/2" wide x 16" deep, are attributed to Howes Foundry of Boston, Mass., and are from the 1880s. They are marked on the side of the rail #918-1 and Made in USA, and on the back of the owl 3000 and the number 2. They are in excellent original condition with no damage, including the glass eyes.

From our European Collection, a fine and very ornate cast iron letter holder, late 19th century, most likely French though possibly Italian or even Spanish, crisply cast with cherubs and other figures and very intricate openwork.

Size and Condition: 14 3/4 inches wide, 14 1/2 inches tall, 4 3/4 inches deep when opened. Excellent condition...

Measuring 15.5" long x 8.25" high x 1.75" deep, this circa 1890s, wonderful and quite fancy, hand-cut iron utensil or clothing rack sports 5 hooks for hanging. It features an unusual stylized heart or perhaps even a stylized floral design which adds to its visual appeal. Condition is very good with excellent, warm patina. Faint pitting and minimal traces of rust. A hanging-hole on each end is present for easy mounting. A visually-attractive antique iron piece with utilitarian purpose!

Very attractive Iron lock, likely South-German, 16th.-17th. century.

The lock finely decorated with bird wings inside a heart shaped.

Condition: Choice for the early type and a lovely dark grey and brown iron patina.

I have seen weapons such as this one described as everything from ancient Roman, Celtic and Chinese to medieval and on and on. Though I have been unable to find much in the way of references, I am fairly certain that this spear and others like it are ceremonial polearms from the Qing Dynasty. They are most likely 18th or 19th century. They have crudely decorated brass collars between the socket and blade. This one and the three others I have listed are in good condition with no signs of repair...

Painted cast iron horsehead nameplate by Hubley, intended for use on a stable door, probably at a racetrack or horse farm. Two screws are meant to hold an engraved nameplate to the horseshoe. This would make a great name plate on the front door of a home.

A very attractive box-lock with large engraved plate, Austrian or South-German, 18th. century.

Condition: Superb for the fragile type, nice patina and painted on the back of the openwork part to prevent rust.

A nice pair of painted cast iron curtain tiebacks in the form of sunflowers. The original paint is nicely applied with good shading.

A lovely working condition cupboard lock, European baroque period, c. 1650-1680.

Fabulous and extremely rare hand-forged iron trade sign in the form of a pretzel. The sign retains an old gilt surface. There is a strong trace of red, yellow and blue paint on the back side and edges of the pretzel, no doubt the colors that were used on the wall or backboard to which the sign was attached through the 13 mounting holes. There also appears to be a red layer underneath the gold. This layer was probably intended to be an undercoating to give the gilding more depth...

19th century cast iron figure of an angel raising a laurel wreath above her head and holding a ship's anchor. Obviously intended as a symbol of the wishes for a sailor's safe return from the sea, the plaque was probably used to decorate the wall of a sailor's home in an Atlantic coast seaport.

Origin: America, circa 1860s. Condition: excellent, light rusting on surface. Size: 14" tall.

Rare antique 18th century Polish Hussar sword-saber with a massive iron stirrup hilt of typical polish hussar form comprising a knuckle bow which is not connected to the pommel. The crossguard with leaf shape thumb ring and a pair of langets modeled quillon domed almond shape pommel with shaped back piece, vertically fluted wooden grip covered with leather...

A wonderfully patinated massive iron cannon, Spain, ca. later 16th. century.

A large and impressive cannon for the type from very old collection - the cannon measure 15,2 cm. in height and 8,7 cm. wide at the base. The weight is around 3700 grams!
