This porcelain oyster plate was produced in France by Theodore Haviland Limoges around 1895. It has a diameter of 8 1/2 inches. The plate has 5 clam shells and a center compartment for salt. The plate is decorated with a factory transfer design with tiny sea creatures and seaweed. These designs are colored by hand. There is brushed on gilded accents around the shells and on the border. Victorian sterling silver pitcher. Made by Dominick & Haff in New York in 1894. Ovoid body with chased fruiting grapevines forming 2 irregular frames (vacant). Helmet mouth and raised and round foot with same applied to rims. High-looping branch-form handle. Tall and tactile with succulent bunches. Holds 5 1/2 pints. Fully marked including dated maker’s stamp, retailer’s stamp (JE Caldwell), no. 275, and volume. Very good condition.

Hand painted with extensive flowers a pair of porcelain soup plates made in China and decorated for the Western market about 1790. The flowers are carmine with touches of blue and yellow and different shades of green for the leaves. The edges of the plates are glazed brown. Diameter 8 7/8 inches (22. 5 cm) and 1 3/8 inches (3 cm) tall.

A sauceboat with attached undertray, handles on either side and spouts at either end. Decorated with hand colored transfer printing and with gilded highlights as well as gilded edges. On the base in green is the printed mark for Kuznetsov porcelain company which owned a number of factories in Russia. A tea cup, coffee cup, and saucer in Chamberlains Worcester pattern #153, gorgeously painted with roses and elaborate gilding. The bottom, of the saucer has an unusual gilded "P." mark.

The saucer has a 5 1/2" diameter, one cup is 2 1/2" tall with a rim diameter of 2 3/4" and a foot diameter of 2". The second cup is 2 5/8" tall with a rim diameter of 3 3/8" and a foot diameter of 2 1/4". Condition is excellent with no repairs or cracks. Some very minor tiny gilt losses...

A Dutch delft heart shaped strainer on three short pointed feet and with attached handles at either end. Old Pat Guthman Antiques label on the base with the price of $550. 3inches (7.5 cm) tall, 5 inches (12.5 cm) wide and 7 ½ (19 cm)inches long.

Condition: Minor glaze chips, a small chip to the body on the underside and part of one foot missing. Good condition for the age and the softness of tin glazed earthenware.

A Wonderful Pair of German Silver (835 standard) Candelabra, Made in Germany, circa 1890. It has three arms and an Art Nouveau design. All bobeches are intact. Dimensions; 9.75" high x 11.5" wide. Weight; 15.5 Troy ounces each, slightly weighted. Excellent condition.

Rare complete single bag (small saddlebag or large chanteh) from the Luri-Bakhtiyari tribes of West Persia, last quarter of the 19th Century. This rare weaving measures 19.5" by 17" and is in nearly mint condition, with full pile and complete piled closure system, tassels and original side finishes. All dyes are natural, including a great purple and apricot. Nice flatweave back with patterning in weft wrap technique typical of Luri/Bakhtiyari work.

The standard reference book for this type figure is "Staffordshire Portrait Figures of the Victorian Era" by P.D. Gordon Hugh. The figure offered here is so rare that the book does not even show an example, although it does have information about the history underlying it...

This porcelain plate was produced in France by the Boyer studio at Rue de la Paise between 1817 and 1834. There is a coat of arms with a Latin motto in the border. It reads, “Vel Arte, Vel Marte” or “Or Skill or Initiative”. The plate measures 10” in diameter. The hand painted scene shows a noble hunting party on horseback, accompanied by packs of dogs, chasing a deer. This porcelain cup and saucer was produced in Germany by Furstenburg between 1753 and 1770. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/4 inches and the cup is 3 inches high at the handle. The cup has the traditional Biedermeier style handle that raises above the rim of the cup. There are hand painted bands of grape vines and grapes done in earth tones. A very handsome sterling silver gravy ladle in John R. Wendt’s “Medallion” pattern. Wendt’s version was one of the earliest designs to use classical profiles as the primary decorative element. The medallion, depicting the goddess Pallas Athena, is supported by a reeded stem that leads to the oval bowl with flared edges. The back is stamped with the retailer’s mark for D. H. Buell & Co., and with the “925” that is often found on early Wendt pieces.
