5218-21: English, Bilston, late 18th century, patch box these memento boxes were popular at the end of the eighteenth century and frequently given as tokens of friendship and love. Usually oval in shape, but also circular and rectangular, there decoration reflected the popular styles of the day. For example, by the 1790s Neoclassical style swags, doves, hearts, and borders were the most commonly used decoration of the day. This box reads "Unity is the bond of society."

A nicely made English wine glass featuring a conical bowl with "hammering" on the lower two thirds of the bowl. The stem is a double series opaque twist with a central lace twist and an outer pair of 6-ply spiral bands. Conical foot with rough snapped pontil. Good color, tooling marks, and striations.

The condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, restoration or other problems. Height is 7", with a bowl diameter of 2 3/8" and a foot diameter of 2 7/8".

A fine example of a four knopped double series opaque twist (DSOT) antique wine glass. The bell bowl is over a stem with a pair of spiral threads outside of a central gauze, and with an annular knop and three ball knops. Conical foot with rough, snapped pontil.

The vast majority of opaque twist glasses have straight stems, and the addition of even one knop adds substantially to the difficulty of making them, and to the value. Each additional knop increases these factors...

A bulbous little pitcher or jug and a small mug, both north Bohemian c 1800 or somewhat earlier. The white Milchglas or Milk glass enameled in the style of Meissen or Sèvres porcelain - often in the “Famille rose” colors seen on this pitcher - was an appreciated export from Bohemia (present Czech Republic). Antique 18th century, circa 1750 AD, Hungarian Anabaptist faience jug from Stupava (German: Stampfen; Hungarian: Stomfa), a town in western Slovakia.

Attributed to South Staffordshire, England, Possibly Bilston, late 18th century. The “gingham finish” was principally produced in this area. By placing a piece of cambric over solid ground color and then applying white enamel this finish was achieved. The three dimensional decoration was also found in the area. An extremely rare and striking c1754 Chelsea cup and saucer. The bell bowl with loop handle features a bird on a leafed branch, with several insects around the girth of the cup. The saucer is similarly decorated.

The overall condition is excellent, with clear and bright colors. Both pieces have the red anchor and stilt marks. The saucer is 5" in diameter, with the cup being 2 1/8" in height. 

A pair of Milchglas / milk glass cups and saucers with flower decoration in gaudy enamels, made around 1760. Relief moulded wth ribbed and diamond-patterned sides and applied foot rims. The model is to be found in the Corning glass museum collections and elsewhere as originating from the glassworks of Flühli in Swiss Luzern. Diameter of saucers "5 ¼ / 13 cm, of cups "3 ¼/ 8 cm. Condition: one cup with old and yellowed glue repair (cf. pics).

A Scottish Footed Silver Bowl, probably used for Sugar. The Marks are rubbed, but it is likely Glasgow, with maker probably Alexander Gairdner c. 1777. Dimensions; 4.75" diameter x ;5" high x 3.5" diameter at foot; weight, a heavy 9.6 Troy ounces. Excellent condition.

We believe this porcelain box was produced in France at the Sevres factory in the late 1700s. It is unmarked...

An 18th century beautiful and uncommon Dr. Wall Worcester coffee cup of fluted French shape with a classical urn, swags, grapes and other fruit hand painted on it. The colors are vibrant, and the condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, or restoration. The gilding is also in wonderful shape, with only a few scattered traces of loss on the rim, visible only under magnification. The cup is 2 5/8 inches tall, with a diameter of 2 3/8 inches.

A wonderful and uncommon Worcester Scratch Cross period high-footed silver form sauce boat of desirable small size. This charming piece has a scroll handle with an upturned thumb rest, the body molded with scroll panels painted with "strutting birds" near a triangular fence and flowering rocks.

The length, including the handle, is 6 1/2 ", the width is 3 1/4", and the height is 2 1/2". Superb condition with vibrant colors and no flaws.

A slightly lobed semi-eggshell porcelain saucer plate, decorated with auspicious finger lemons surrounded by scattered flowers within a spearhead border, all in iron red and gilt. China, Yongzheng period c 1730. Diameter 4 ½ " / 11.5 cm. Condition: repair to the rim (c.f. pics).

A well decorated Chinese Imari export plate with underglaze blue and overglaze red, orange and gold. The scene of flowering plants and a Chinese fence covers the face of the plate, from the rim on one side, across the center and onto the opposite rim. There is a single blue line at the outer border and a brown edge. The back is decorated with blue and red trailing flowers and has an unglazed foot. Probably the first quarter of the 18th century. 8 5/8 inch (22 cm) diameter.

On Monday January 3, 1752, the Dutch East India Company, (Verenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie, VOC) ship Geldermalsen, struck a reef on her return journey to the Netherlands and sank in the South China Sea. This lobed quatrefoil shaped bowl measures 7-3/4" x 6-1/4" and it is 3-1/8" in height. The enamelling is particularly fine, done to the Chinese taste. A Large and Impressive Hand Painted Dutch Delft Vase. Eight reserves; four large ones of a bird and four lesser ones of a stag. Label on the base says "De Oude Moriaans Hoult (The Old Moors Head) Holland Delft (the mark) 1759". This refers to the potters mark, which was first used in 1759 (the Old Moors Head dates from 1648). Superb Georgian sterling silver swing-handle basket. The bottom of the basket is formed of a silver sheet stamped and pierced in an intricate grapevine motif. An elegant Thomas Ellis sterling silver and whalebone toddy ladle with an elongated bowl with a rope twist edging. The twisted baleen handle affords a better grip and retains its original end cap.
