A spectacular calligraphic work by E. Bambeck, signed and dated as part of the painting. Using pastels, watercolors, and pen and ink, he has limned a pair of very lifelike parakeets on white branches against a stark black background. The details and artistry that has gone into this work is truly of the highest order.

A cup and deep saucer in the bamboo pattern with an early printed Spode mark on the cup. The transfer design was applied over glaze by the “pluck and dust” method of transferring color followed by hand painting of the gilding. The color is referred to in the Spode literature as, “chestnut brown,” though this one has a reddish tint. Saucer 5 ½ inches diameter, cup 2 inches tall.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Very minor gilding wear.

Dresser Tray with a Doily Enclosed in between two pieces of glass and in a Bronze two handled mount. Dimensions; 8.5" in diameter, 10" to the handles. Circa 1900 and in excellent condition.

A fine naïve folk portrait profile of a gentleman, signed on the reverse by the artist Samuel Rowell. In the same hand is the location of Amesbury, Mass, and the name of the sitter, Moses Henderson.

The painting is on card, done in watercolor with gum arabic highlights, and is in the original gilded wood frame. An additional piece of glass has been put on the back to protect the written information.

This porcelain plate was produced in Germany by the Ambrosius Lamm Dresden studio in the 1880s. It is titled “Vierte Nachtstunde” or Fourth Hour of the Night after Raphael. The plate is 9 ½ inches in diameter. It is hand painted with the night goddess holding an owl while suspended on clouds. The hand painting is finely detailed and the coloring is vivid. The border is hand gilded with an elaborate design containing lyres...

Terrific American majolica dish in the form of a fish. The painting on this example is especially nice, with very lifelike colors. The modeling is very crisp and clean. This is a rare applied butterfly (Marquetry) box, made by Bohemian master, Ludwig Moser, around 1885. Like typical Moser objects from that epoch, the box is unsigned. But such applied-glass-motif objects were made by Moser and Harrach in Bohemia and Thomas Webb in England (refer to Baldwin's book on Moser glass). A hard to find purple transferware pitcher with central vignettes of farm life and genre scenes. The top and inside of pitcher have foliate decoration. The single piece handle is attached. An uncommon English firing dram glass with an ogee bowl, c 1765, made of lead metal. The stem is of the double series opaque twist type (DSOT) and is comprised of a pair of 6-ply spiral bands outside of a pair of spiral tapes. The terraced foot is highly desirable and sought after by collectors. Snapped pontil.

The height is 3 13/16", with a bowl diameter of 2" and a foot diameter of 2 5/8".

This covered vegetable dish was produced in France by Pouyat Limoges around 1900. It is 11 1/4 inches long, 8 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches high. The porcelain has molded poppies and scrolled edges and handles. It is decorated with art nouveau chrysanthemums. Heavy gilding is profusely used on the rims and handles. Delicate gilding is used to accent the design and to trim the borders. Condition: Excellent
