A nice tin tray with tole floral decoration. The center is painted with a colorful bouquet including roses, tulips, peonies, lilies and ferns. The bouquet is surrounded by a foliate border, and the edges of the tray are highlighted with an orange-gold sand paint. The tray is handmade with soldered seams and rolled edges.

Five early paper dolls dressed in crepe paper dresses. When I bought them I was told they were made to hang on the Christmas tree and it is true some of the have thread hangers on the back. They are very nice and unusual. They range in size from 7 1/2" to about 10" and date to the 1880's.

This doll was bought in the mid west and had to have been made by an older child or a mother doing the best she could with what she had. She is firmly straw stuffed. Her face is stitched with heavy thread. Her mouth is stitched with the use of many "xxx"s and it looks great. Her nose is pinched raised with overcasting thread. Her eyes are framed with red stitches and her eyes and eyebrows are brown thread. Her red bonnet is sewn on as are her clothes...

This unusual glass paperweight is filled with a devil’s fire motif worked in vibrant opaque shades of red, white and green. The glass of the design has a chalky texture similar to sulphides, but is randomly swirled and peaked in the typical devil’s fire style. This is a Fine Two-piece Silverplated FISH SET with Mother of Pearl Handles. Dating circa late Victorian era, the knife measures approx. 10 1/2 inches in length while the fork is 8 inches in length. The Knife Blade has some small scratches near the tip on one side of the normal use variety; overall Condition of both pieces is Very Good +. The Top edge of the Knife blade is nicely Decorated with Engraved Design. There is an Impressed mark: "Abbey" on the Knife Blade...

Measures 9 1/2" high, and roughly the same from tip of spout to end of handle, base is 5 1/2" wide and 4 1/4" deep. Beautifully engraved with foliate and scrolling designs, an oval cartouche on each side. Beading at base and top, bone finial, bone inserts on handle. How often do you see a flame stitch mat? This one still has vibrant color. The foundation is a loomed homespun. It has a spider web fringe that is so fine and beautiful. I have taken pictures of the 3 areas of with condition problems. There are two small holes and one larger one. The fringe also is sparse in many areas around the mat. That said this is a rare form of flame stitch and is paper thin and very finely woven. It is mid 1700's and is 6" by 11".

This porcelain coffee cup and saucer was produced in Germany by KPM in the early 20th century. The saucer is 6 1/4 inches in diameter and the cup is 2 1/8 inches high. This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany by Nymphenburg in the 1890's. The shield mark is under the glaze in a blue green used in the 19th century. This is quite the scrap book. The back and front are cloth covered in blue and white calico. The pages are also cloth with stitching around all the edges. The trade and advertising cards are glued down on both sides of the fabric. The pages are bound together by three holes and each page and tied with a yellow ribbon. Lovely sterling silver sugar tongs in an elegant pattern that seems more Georgian than Victorian. The tongs are of the finest quality and are large enough to be used as bonbon or ice tongs, as well as for sugar. The end has an attractive period “E” monogram. Samson of Paris, 19th century: a large godrooned dish, hand painted in the style of Watteau with a courting couple in a pastoral landscape surrounded by flowers, Deutsche Blumen. Flat back with the gilt wheel mark for Höchst /Hoechst 1765-74. Diameter "10¼/ 26,3 cm. Condition: a chip to the rim (cf. pics).

A large copper lustre jug / pitcher, both sides transfer printed with Charity as a mother with children, having pity on yet another child. Sunderland, England c 1830, unmarked. Height "5 ½ / 13.5 cm. Condition: a firing crack visible at the base and a glaze bubble to the Charity image to one side (cf. pics). A smaller Sunderland jug with Hope is presented in another GC offer (cf. last pic).

This is a bronze miniature figure of Sri-Lakshmi, a Hindu goddess from 16th-18th century India. The figure stands in a sensual tribhanga pose on a round base over a square plinth. Her right arm is extended, and her left arm is raised with a lotus blossom.

She wears a long dhoti with incised foliate patterns and an elaborate pendant belt.

She is also adorned with jewelry and a breast band, and her hair is piled into a high chignon.

This type ware is often mistakenly referred to as Leeds and feather edge. In reality, many factories other than Leeds made pearlware items of this nature, and the type edge here is more properly called a molded edge.
