Dinner plate in Sevres pattern but probably Minton c. 1850

A soft paste porcelain dinner plate unmarked, but probably Minton. In the “feuille de choux” pattern with hand painted flowers, blue accents and heavy gilding. These knock offs of 18th century Sevres were popular from the mid 19th century (c.1850) onwards and Minton made many of the very good ones. 9 ½ inches (24 cm) diameter.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs...

A very nice pair of Staffordshire spaniels highlighted with gilt decoration. Each dog wears a collar with a padlock and a chain. The muzzles are decorated with pink and black overglaze enamel, and the eyes are set with glass eyes. Both have the whimsical "Joan Crawford" eyebrows. Spaniels with glass eyes, although a bit later than some of the other Staffordshire figures, are difficult to find.

A superb oil on canvas American folk art painting depicting a man orating about temperance. He is standing beneath trees which are arching to almost form a bower over him. A courting couple is on either side of him, with a church in the background. The symbolism of the couples probably reflects the belief that marital and family relations improve in temperance households. A lovely Staffordshire pottery inkwell and quill holder in the form of a swan. The wings are painted vivid shades of pink with black and gilt accents. The bird rests on a colorful "confetti" nest. The hole in the swan's back served as the inkwell, while the two holes in the front were to hold quills. This swan is a particularly colorful example.

The saucer measures 5 ¼ inches and the cup is 2 ¾ inches high. The set has wonderful celeste blue enamel coloring. There are bands of tiny hand painted flowers accenting the rims. Superb American coin silver soup ladle, the bright-cut flared handle narrowing to a twist handle that leads to the deeply scalloped bowl. Twist handle pieces are especially desirable, particularly when combined with other outstanding decorative elements. The back is stamped with the mark for Farrington & Hunnewell, silversmiths who worked in Boston beginning in 1835.

A group of pink lusterware made by Allerton, Staffordshire: slop bowl, two cups and three saucer bowls, all decorated with the Dahlia flowers typical of Charles Allerton & Sons, c 1860-70. Pattern numbers (?) 22, 707 and 701. Diameter of slop bowl "5½ / 14 cm, height of cups "2 ½ / 6.5 cm, diameter of saucers c. "5½ / 14 cm. Condition: wear to part of the decoration, nick to the foot rim of the slop bowl, one saucer with a hairline (cf. pics).

Interesting study collection of 16 miniature keys, each quite rarely seen since these would have been lost due to their small sizes, mostly 18th.-19th. century, a few probably 17th. century.

Such keys would have been used to unlock very small boxes and tiny coffins in the old days.

Unusual Victorian copper ladies' button-up boot. The Victorians often placed these along their mantles for purely decorative purposes. Most examples are made of brass, but this piece is entirely copper. Another nice touch is the applied scalloped pattern along the front edge of the boot and the white brass buttons.

An exceptionally nice English porcelain cup and saucer decorated with pink luster. The body is molded in a net pattern with reserves that are highlighted in overglaze blue, green, yellow and iron red enamels. The center of the saucer is decorated with a strawberry motif that is repeated in the bottom of the cup. The cup is raised on a slight foot. The saucer has very deep and steeply sloped sides so the hot tea could be drunk directly from the saucer, as was the custom.

Exceptional American coin silver melon spoon in the Grecian taste. Although simply marked "Coin" this spoon could easily be the work of Gorham, Coles, or other makers of similar repute. The matte finished bowl is decorated with repousse lobes highlighted with bright cut engraving; the handle solely with bright cut engraving.

Measuring 2.75 inches high x 2.75 inches in diameter, this very sweet, child's, Copper Lustre mug or cup was produced in 19th century England.

Beautiful "Copper Lustre" paint accents a central yellow band with copper colored, feather detailing. Interior rim is painted in a pink lustre band.

Condition is quite fine with no damage or repair. Some expected light wear from actual use to painted rim and base and a teeny firing imperfection on the handle that is not readily evident to the eye.

A rare comical stoneware lidded jar in the shape of a blowfish by Mark V. Marshall for Doulton Lambeth, circa 1885. This globular vessel stands on three fin feet and the lid has a fin shaped handle. The entire piece is glazed in rich green, white and brown tones. The underside bears an impressed "Doulton Lambeth" mark, signature, and other incised factory marks. In excellent condition, it measures 6.5 inches high and 5.25" diameter.
