Generally classed as fraktur type, paintings such as these were done by children, and were often, as this one was, painted on a page from a ledger or notebook. This is an extremely fine early 19th century balustroid wine glass made in the 18th century style. It is lead glass, and has a large funnel bowl which sits atop a triple ring collar, below which is a center section of an unusual and uncommon cylinder knop, followed by two angular knops. It has a conical folded foot with a rough, snapped pontil.

Amazing "Queen Anne" amethyst paste earrings set in gilt metal. This style of jewelry has been historically misnamed for Queen Anne, who reigned from 1695 to 1714, as so called Queen Anne jewelry dates to the mid 18th century. The vivid purple paste stones used are faceted as rose cuts. The earrings have back to front fittings and fit close to the earlobe. There is a matching necklace sold separately.

Very nice Chinese export porcelain tea pot in Canton decoration. The slightly tapered drum-shaped body is decorated with typical Canton scenes of islands, bridges, boats, etc. and is accented with a raincloud border along the top edge. Superb antique English porcelain plates from the Worcester Flight, Barr and Barr factory. Placed on a gilded "seaweed" background, the central roundels depict exotic birds, beautifully painted by Charles Stinton, a well-known and highly acclaimed painter of birds.

Three inch long day-night earrings with a lovely rococo design that incorporates foliate and shell motifs set with Persian turquoise and enlivened by the two-color 15K gold. This is an original 18th century Gouyn period porcelain Chelsea fob seal. These seals were given as love tokens by the wealthy and known as "toys". This particular seal features a woman dancing and holding out her apron on either side. She has a low cut pink bodice and a skirt with a mini print pattern on the front and stripes on the back, and reads "Toujour gai", meaning "Always happy". A wine glass rinser, rare because of the deep and beautiful red color. Wine rinsers or wine washers were used to cool or rinse wine glasses between courses of meals. Red was, by far, the least common color of glass in this period because of the expense in making since gold had to be added to the molten metal to achieve the color. This is a wonderful example in excellent condition. The height is 3 3/4 inches and the diameter is 4 5/16 inches. Polished pontil.

This is an absolutely charming American folk art painting depicting an idyllic country scene. Wine rinsers or wine washers were used to cool or rinse wine glasses between courses of meals. At formal meals of this type, beer or ale would not be served. Therefore, the engraving of hops and barley on this rinser is very unusual and a bit inexplicable, as this type engraving was specifically used on ale glasses. The rinser is 3 1/2" tall and 4' in diameter.

A stunning Chelsea-Derby tea bowl and saucer, finely painted in puce monochrome with scattered floral sprays and sprigs, reserved on a ground of closely packed gilded spirals. The interior of the bowl is painted with a puce rose and leaves. Both pieces are marked with a gold anchor.

Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, or restoration. Minor gilding wear to the extreme rim edges. The height of the bowl is is 1 7/8", and the diameter is 3 1/8", while the saucer diameter is 5".

A superb double series opaque twist 5 ring Lynn glass with a 4 ply gauze surrounded by a lace tape. Conical foot with rough pontil. Supposedly, this has a minute foot chip, but I have not been able to find it, despite very careful examination.

Georgian ring of green paste in a basket setting flanked by two clear pastes on each side. Paste is colored or clear glass, often lead or flint, cut in the same fashion as gemstones and used as a substitute especially while traveling. Antique paste jewelry was valued on its own merits and not as an imitation of another piece of jewelry. This Georgian 15K gold, green paste ring is a size 7 1/2 and can be sized. It measures 1/4" at its widest.

A rare and beautiful sweetmeat with a double ogee bowl with an everted rim. The bowl is atop a set of 3 merises, below which is an opalescent stem with a double series opaque twist (dsot) composed of a 17 ply spiral band around a lace twist. At the bottom of the stem is a nicely domed and folded foot.

The glass is in overall excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restoration. There is a tiny 1/16" inclusion in the side of the bowl, not at all uncommon and truly of no importance. Excel...

It is highly uncommon for dram size glasses to have a domed foot, and this is a superb example. The ogee bowl is above a double series opaque twist (DSOT) stem consisting of spiral bands outside of central spiral tapes. Rough snapped pontil.

Unusual 15K gold memorial ring depicting an urn in hair paint, surrounded by alternating rose diamonds and amethysts. The enameled band reads "John Jenkins died 20 Feb 1780". The back of the ring is engraved "In loving one sincerely there is great merit".

A creamware mug, probably Liverpool, with a black transfer printed scene of a farm cottage with gate and outside the fence two men standing in front of a loaded one-horse cart. The oval transfer surrounded by foliage. Though much creamware was earlier it remained popular into the nineteenth century. 3 ¾ inches tall and 4 3/8 inches across the handle.

Condition: no cracks, hairlines or repairs. Fairly substantial chip that is mostly on the inside of the foot and another minor one on the foot...

The most common type of air twist found in mid-18th century English glasses is the multiple spiral air twist (MSAT). Double series air twists are occasionally found, but triple series twists are incredibly rare, with very few still in existence. This particular example has an ogee bowl leading into a stem with a central air core surrounded by a two ply heavy thread which is in turn surrounded by a three ply heavy thread. The fully ribbed round funnel bowl on this glass elevates it above the ordinary into an elegant and striking wine glass. The double series opaque twist stem consists of a spiral band surrounding a single spiral tape. Rough snapped pontil. There has been a slight polish to a small section of the foot, probably to remove a nick, as it has not reduced the foot size at all.
