A very fine Nailsea-Stourbridge green bottle glass paperweight with a foiled flower pot design. A large central petunia-type flower arises on a slender stem from the well-formed pot, and is surrounded with two additional circlets of smaller flowers, four to each layer. Most likely French, 19th century. The image of an Englishman hunting with a hound was a common image on enamel boxes, especially snuff boxes in the eighteenth century. However, it clearly dates to the late nineteenth century. The lug and ribbed banding on the metal hinge, as well as the completely hand painted nature of the lid identify this box as a nineteenth-century creation.

Antique Kurdish bagface, or bag front, Northwest Persia, late nineteenth--early 20th Century, 14" by 19". Single Memling gul in blue-green, brown-black, dark ivory, several shades of red, apricot, midnight blue, etc. Multicolored diagonal stripe border. Original selvedge, good condition. All dyes appear natural, including the beautiful apricot often found in this type of bag.

This is a rare and authentic 17th-century antique Russian bronze icon with a center panel finial from the triptych Deesis. It depicts The Savior enthroned, surrounded by the Mourning Virgins and St. John the Baptist in the upper tier. The lower part of the Icon has half-figures of St. Zossima, Sabbatius of Solovetskii monastery, and saint prelates Nicholas the Wonderworker and Leontius of Rostov.

CONDITION: It is in good condition, showing signs of usage and wear.

A pair of candlesticks with a dark blue ground decorated with gilt insects and raised beaded rings. Though unmarked this is a color and decoration that was made by Masons from about 1815 to 1825. 8 inches tall and 5 inches diameter at the base. (20 cm tall and 13 cm diameter at base).

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Gilding wear around edges and some scratches around the base, probably from scraping off wax.

These are very elegant and no doubt the insects were painted ...
