The urn has been painted to look like it has a mica or quartz type surface, with the stand being done in the same manner. This is an elegant 19th Century Victorian ivory page turner, the handle embellished with delicately carved flowers and C scrolls. A Toddy or Punch Ladle in Sterling Silver by Gorham in the rare Louis XIV pattern, for Theodore B. Starr and Herman Marcus. It is in a bent ladle shape (may have been straight originally, but more likely it was based on designs in the George III period) and dates from about 1870, when the design was patented. It weighs 6.4 Troy ounces and measures 8" x 5", with a bowl of 4.5" x 3.5". Its unbent length would be 14.5". There is a monogram "N" on the underside of the handle...

Here is a unique gift for Christmas: a 19th century ivory letter opener in the form a dagger with a charming hand-carved elephant handle. The beautiful curved dagger blade is attached with old nails to the wooden handle. Measurement: length: 13 1/2 inches. Caldwell were a major Philadelphia maker and retailer.

Handmade of colonial silver, this "mate" cup is of Uruguayan origin from the 1850-1870 period.
"Mate" is a special cup for drinking "yerba mate" a popular tea brewed from the leaves of a native holly (Ilex Paraguariensis). The perforated silver straw used for drinking the "mate" contains leaves carving.

This is a wonderful pair of Derby putti disguised as flower sellers, dating from the 1770 period. The figures are mirror images of each other, as true pairs should be. Each putti has a basket of flowers over one arm, while a single flower is held in the hand of the other arm. The height is 5 1/2", considerably larger than the usual putti. The bottoms display the patch marks typical of Derby during this period of manufacture.
