This amethyst ring is a striking example of gold-work decoration that became popular in the second decade of the 19th century. A type of filigree work known as "cannetile" and named for the gold embroideries of the Napoleonic years, cannetile work made the most of a small amount of gold and required highly skilled goldsmiths. A Continental Cabinet Plate by Oscar Schlegelmilch factory in Langewiesen, Thuringia, Germany, circa 1890 (marked with a Royal Vienna style blue beehive mark) The plate decorated with a central image depicting Odysseus and Telemachos surrounded by gilt and additional color and gilt banding. This porcelain trinket box was produced in Germany by the Koniglich Porzellan Manufactur, or KPM, in the 1890s. The box is signed under the glaze with a blue scepter and a red orb over the glaze. Offered is this beautiful cameo glass box made by Thomas Webb & Sons of Stourbridge, England. It is 4 1/2 inches (11,5 cm) tall and about 3 inches (7,5 cm) wide. Except for a tiny flea-bite on the bottle's inner rim (hidden when lid is in place), it is in very good condition. It is signed in acid with the Webb cameo-glass logo on its polished pontil.
