An olive wood box, the lid decorated with an oval panel depicting an Italian couple, in the marquetry work typical of Sorrento. Late 19th c or around 1900. On the front is written Bellagio, meaning that the box was sold in this lovely resort by Lake Como as a souvenir. Width "8½/ 22 cm, height "2¾/ 7 cm and depth "6/15,5 cm. Condition: fine, except for the small key which is best left unturned, since it is difficult to maneuvre.

DESCRIPTION: A fine antique folk art frame with deeply set mirror, the frame intricately inlaid with multi-colored woods forming geometric designs including diamonds, stars, fans and other parquetry motifs. This is a wonderful folk art piece executed with obvious skill; narrow beaded inner frame is gold leaf. Excellent condition, no losses or cracks. Provenance: Clifford A. Fine 18th century English single compartment tea caddy in harewood, having hinged rectangular top with boxwood stringing and bone pull and escutcheon opening to an inner lid. Circa 1780.

English Chippendale Mahogany Mirror, Looking Glass, 18th C, 29" high, 16" wide, 1 1/2" deep, with original glass and backboard. The carving is very simple and some veneer repairs on upper area.

From our European Collection, a good late 19th / early 20th century cast iron mirror, probably English. A charming but unpretentious piece that can complement many different styles of decor.

Size and Condition: 28 1/4 inches tall, 16 inches wide. Excellent condition, no repairs or restoration and the glass appears to be original: Some general wear to the ironwork commensurate with age as seen in the second close-up, but this only adds to the charm.

19th Century French bronze hinged box with engraved sides. The lid featured a rooster made of very fine feathers under glass. Original lining. In excellent condition, this little treasure measures approximately 4 1/4" long, 1" deep and 3" at widest point.

Rare English Regency Hawksbill and Greenback Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy with ivory and pewter stringing, having cut corners and a bowed front panel with pressed tortoise in concentric ovals with fan corners and central inlaid silver oval with leafage border; the bowed lid surmounted by a ball finial and the whole raised on ball feet. Colorful thread box, the hinged top decoupaged with playing cards. Both the inside lid and the bottom have labels proclaiming "Brook's Soft Finish is the Perfection of Sewing Thread."

This fine small yellow enamel box is beautifully painted with a floral medallion on a white ground, interior with orange and blue floral sprays, base is signed with a crossed pair of blue crossed pointless arrows. This is an original Antique (Pre-1900 / 1900) Gadget (Sword ) Cane, with a Carved Ball with the faces of a young and an elder Chinese men, as well as some Graphic Symbols made from Bone. The ball has a handle extension that measures 16cm. and it is composed of a bone (1.5cm), Double Brass (2. 75cm each) and wooden (9cm) collars. The bone portions of the handle display a superb natural old patina. It has a wooden scabbard/shaft with a square cavity that measures 29 inches...

Rare English Regency Tea Chest in rosewood, of sarcophagus form with a paneled lid opening to a fitted interior retaining a pair of Anglo-Irish cut glass tea caddies and sugar bowl and original felt lining under the lid, circa 1830.

Cut crystal containers were very expensive at this time, almost as expensive as silver. It is very unusual for tea chests to retain their original crystal fittings.
