A true survivor. This is a 6-3/4" x 5" double well papier-mache tea caddy with ornate decoration with a porcelain miniature c1850-60. This attractive tea caddy stands 4-1/4" high and the hinged lid lifts to reveal the twin compartments, whose lids have hand carved and decorated mother-of-pearl grips. The wells have a gray painted lining. It has conical decorated gilt brass feet and ornate hand painted polychrome and gold decoration on the lid, base and front panel...

Beautiful old Nepali/Tibetan bamboo box with rattan bindings and metal chain. Bought this in Kathmandu in 1986 and it always been one of my favorite pieces. There are cracks on the outside of the bamboo, but none on the inside. H: 20cm/8in and 9.8cm/3.9in.

Antique, circa 1900 A.D. Russian Arts and Crafts” Kustar Art” Pyrogravure, hand painted, wood tobacco box of the Abramtsevo workshop. Lid depicts a peasant woman sitting in front of a traditional Russian country home. The sides decorated with chequered medallions within floral ornaments...

A fine old antique gold frame of the 19th century, measuring 27" by 34" by 3" depth, the inner rabbet 18 1/2" by 25 1/2". This frame certainly at one time held a fine painting; there is some hint of there having been a placard. Weight is an impressive 20 pounds; the wood used I believe is heavy oak. There is much evidence of age, moderate wear; but it is in keeping with the age and antiquity of the frame. Currently there is a modern print of a Picasso work inserted into the opening.

A beautiful mahogany shaped knife box made of solid sides and fitted with slotted board to hold knives. The cyma and creased shaped front supports a non-working brass lock escutcheon and opening handle. The corners are molded. The cover is decorated with a star inside, and attached with brass hinges. The base of the box is also molded. Over all, the design and construction are sumptuous.

A beautiful 19th Century cloisonné Charger in blue with flying cranes 18 inch diameter, Japanese Meiji period

A Victorian sterling silver ornate floral hand mirror circa 1890 1900. This antique 10-1/2" x 5-3/4" dresser set piece has a she ield cartouche that has not had a monogram. The silver marks are usually found near the base of the mirror at the handle, which in this case appears to have been shortened slightly, you can see a separate line, obscuring the hallmarks. The mirror was tested and it does test as sterling silver. Greatly resembles older Kirk or Steiff silver...

DESCRIPTION: A handsome Victorian era (c. 1890) copper coal scuttle with brass handle and hinges, having a built-in copper “pocket” on the top to hold a shovel scoop. These coal scuttles are practical today for removing ashes from your fireplace, and making a warm “hearth and home” statement. This one shows use with scattered small dents and a base repair. C. 1880 Hand carved Wood Box Engraved mother of pearl box measures just over 2 inches square. The top slides cleanly off the base to uncover beautiul mother of pearl "puzzle pieces", probably intended as a game whereby one must get the pieces back in the same order. A lovely Victorian box for the discerning box collector.

This lovely clothes brush has a sterling top patterned with the classic Art Nouveau Swirling tresses and flowers. The brush is marked F & B for the Theo. W. Foster & Bro. Company of Providence RI. This company was incorporated under that name in 1898 and was among the largest manufacturers of jewelry & sterling silver vanity goods in the Art Nouveau period. The brush is 5 ½" X ¾" and dates from 1900-1910.

Attractive and unusual Victorian inlaid wood stereographgraphoscope. When the lid is raised and a stereograph is inserted in the holder, the viewer looks through the magnifying portal for a realistic three dimensional view.

Bagatelle was a billiards-derived indoor table game, the object of which was to get a number of balls past wooden pins into holes that are guarded by wooden pegs; penalties were incurred if the pegs are knocked over.

A very rare and important teak Temple chest with beautiful gold leaf relief design of Buddha with his adoring subjects. Age: 18th century. Size: L. 77cm. W. 40cm. H. 46.2cm. Condition: No repairs. Some small loss of the gold leaf which is common for the age.

Lovely antique Chinese blue and white porcelain gourd shaped vase with charming design of bats flying in the clouds. Perfect condition. Six character mark on recessed bottom. Xuantong 1909-1912, kaishu mark in regular script. Demonstrates clearly a feature that is often called hollow or fractured, line. The decoration of the piece, iron red bats among clouds is in a distinctly different style as compared to similarly decorated pieces of the previous reign.
