A faux tortoise cigar case, inlaid with engraved bronze doré ornaments in the style and manner of Boulle. French, late 19th century. Width "5 ¾ / 14.5 cm. Condition: damage and antique repair (cf. pics).

Small table snuff box made of lacquered papier-maché, the glass lid with reverse engraved and painted decoration. Inside is a shell and two strands of hair. There is no lock; the snuff box was intended not to be carried around in a pocket, but to be placed on a shelf or a table where it displayed well. Probably Scandinavian, made around 1800 or earlier, unusual. Diameter 2" / 5 cm, height ¾ "/ 2 cm. Condition: the mirror glass cracked, wear consistent with age (cf pics).

An early 19th century box, probably an eyeglass case. Made of cardboard, the top decorated with a pearl embroidered flower and owner’s initials in wool, all surrounded by gilt paper ribbons, so-called Dresden trims. Germany, c 1830-40. A vintage c1900-10 paper-wrapped 12-1/2 x 3-3/4" glove box with an applied celluloid Neoclassical portrait of a lady in a gilt metal frame. This unsigned box is wrapped in a linen-textured paper and it is lined with a mauve textured paper interior. This item is in excellent original condition with no cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than some slight soiling and some minor rubs and frays at the corners...

An interesting antique silver plated pinioned-lid stamp box c1880-1890. This 2-5/8" x 1-1/2" unsigned box features a floral corner applique and two applied butterflies on the top, a pin stop and corner swinging pivot. The interior has remnants of what appears to be adhesive from some missing material and it has two cutout felt pieces; it would make a nice tiny jewel box also...

This lovely clothes brush has a sterling top patterned with the classic Art Nouveau Swirling tresses and flowers. The brush is marked F & B for the Theo. W. Foster & Bro. Company of Providence RI. This company was incorporated under that name in 1898 and was among the largest manufacturers of jewelry & sterling silver vanity goods in the Art Nouveau period. The brush is 5 ½" X ¾" and dates from 1900-1910.

A Japanese bronze ritual brazier from the Muromachi period. It has an even tonal verdigris patina throughout the object. The scalloped edge lip is decorated with alternating Ruyi cutouts and continuous curved lines.

Purchased over 40 years ago at Restoration Hardware, this archaic style bronze ram's head was the only piece they had in their store. I suspect it was a decorative item that RH purchased as an accent piece for one of their room settings. The holes on this reproduction ram indicates that the original bronze ram was affixed to an instrument. An impressive piece, this was probably made in the first decade of the 20th C Measures 14" long, 7.5" high, and 12" across the horns.
