Offered is a handsome, C1870s, woodworkers, Adjustable Dado Plane. It is marked "W.COATES 57 BRIDGE STREET - MANCHESTER" and is most likely of English origin.

Dado planes are designed to cut a groove across the wood's grain. The front-mounted nicker iron would score the edge of the groove and thus avoid splitting and lifting the grain. This is a graphic pin cushion from the 1860's in brown, blue and tan star pattern. The back is a egg wash blue linen. It has a nice blue velvet saw tooth edge that goes around the middle of the cushion. It is all hand sewn, a real work of art. It is worn but mellow and nice. It is 8" diameter and is 4" high. A nice surviving example of a Civil War era pin cushion.

This is a lovely ivory rabbit walking stick. He has brown glass eyes and a gold plate collar. Very nice carving detail on his face with the fur and whiskers. He also wears a carved bow tie at the base of his neck. This stick measures 36" x 4.5" x 1". The handle/head measures 1.75" x 4.5" x 1". The collar measures .75" and the ferrule 1".
