The shabti is carved from sycamore wood and is presented mammiform with a tripartite wig with arms crossed over the chest. A seed sack is painted on the back. This is a copper alloy dagger or short sword. It has an interesting patina consisting primarily of light to medium green tones (likely malachite) mottled with red and reddish brown areas (likely copper oxides). There are areas where the deep brown, lightly corroded base metal is still visible and somewhat lustrous. The entire hilt, including the crescent-shaped pommel, is bordered by a thick and even ridge which would have served to contain the grip scales made of bone, wood, or ivory...

Highly stylized female figure carved from a piece of bone. The prominent head with two deep vertical incisions that delimit the sides of the nose and of the pursed lips. Swiftly incised horizontal lines to delineate the brow and the chin. The eyes and other details may have been painted.

This is a fascinating ancient Egyptian alabaster vase, c. 1200 BC, 4" tall. It's intact and made from a rough piece of alabaster, with its cracks filled in while it was still forming underground. It was purchased at an antique market in Marin, CA.

Relics of the Nile is thrilled to present this superb large Egyptian falcon-shaped sarcophagus with corn mummy inside. The sarcophagus comes complete with only minor insect holes to the bottom of the piece, which do not detract. The sarcophagus is in absolutely choice condition with clear hieroglyphics to the front of the piece. The glyphs show the name of Osiris "The Manifestation", as well as references to Khnum and Amon "The hidden god" and "He who makes..."...

Large head of Serapis shown with a fulsome beard and fringed hairdo over the forehead. On the crown a closed modius decorated with an olive branch.
The face with a small nose and flat eye cavities with thin eyelids. The mouth enclosed by a stringy moustache.
Modeled in the round. Two-piece mold with cursory back side. Remains of the original gesso layer in the cavities. Nice Hellenistic style.
