An elegant large and important bronze oil lamp, c. 1st-2nd. Century AD.

The cast lamp with foot-ring, pear-shaped body and spreading nozzle, the handle terminating in a finely cast head of a horse with slightly open mouthThe circular hole in the nozzle holds the wick. Interestingly, BMC has an almost identical style lamp, reportedly found at Qasr Ibrim, an important archaeological site in Lower Nubia, in the south of modern-day Egypt, which was then part of the Roman empire.
A pair of attractive early European iron keys, with remnants of copper on the larger one, c. 16th. century.

Lot includes a large 14,5 cm. long key with remnants of copper plating and cross cut bit, early 16th. century, perhaps even earlier. The other key with a hearthshaped bow, measuring 10,7 cm. c. 16th. century.

Condition: Very fine, nice metal with a thick and stable iron patina.

A nice stamp seal, found at the ancient city of Antioch (Amüg-Ebene) on the border between Anatolia and Mesopotamia, probably late Halaf-early Ubaid period, c. 5th. mill. BC.

The triangular seal with a loop at the top and carved with a grit-pattern in the base.

A late Ubaid period stamp seal, probably made during the 4th. millenium BC. The seal in serpentine and of the double side tablet type, engraved with an interesting symethric motif of lines and a scetched animal on the other side.

Interesting type with handle and engraved with a criss-cross pattern and four perforated globes or pellets in each corner of the base.

Interesting North-Mesopotamian type and probably from the Halaf period, although the round shape is rare for this period, we date this 6th.-4th. millenium BC.

Size: 27 mm. in diameter - a substantial seal.

Condition: Very fine, with the top the handle lost to extensive use, othervise attractive.
