This is an authentic Ushabti figurine from ancient Egypt, dating back to the period between 1200 and 300 BC. The figurine is made of turquoise glazed faience and is decorated with black hieroglyphic inscriptions. The Ushabti was a funerary figurine that was placed in tombs to serve and accompany the deceased in the afterlife. This is a beautiful ancient bronze axe head from Norther Iran ca 1200 BC. It has very thick and flared blades. The socket has a raised ring or ridge around it and underneath both blades are three raised lines cast into the bronze. This is quite an unusual type acquired from a large private collection. It weighs 611 grams and measures 16 cm across. This piece is a must for any ancient weapon collection.

This large and heavy copper alloy axe is from the ancient culture(s) of Northern Iran. The convex cutting edges are perpendicular to each other. It has a vertical shaft hole with a collar/ridge around the bottom. There are some obvious chips to the vertical cutting blade but it is otherwise very solid, stable and complete. Axes such as this one were in use from the late third millennium BCE throughout the second millennium BCE. The larger size indicates a date later in that timeframe...

This is a lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1200 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 1/2” long (13 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

Slender bronze axe head with rounded cutting edge and eyelet on the narrow side.
The upper lobes bent inwards to better fit the forked shaft, which was fixed with twine or rawhide. Hook-like projections on the neck.
Palstave is the typical axe form of the Middle Bronze Age, 1500-1275 BC. Late palstave types tend to have narrower blades, as in our case.

The medallion decorated with the head of a satyr with wild locks and curled heavy beard. The face shows a fleshy nose, full lips and wide open eyes topped by marked eyebrows. The bold head with fine floccus. Goat-like ears.
Satyrs and silens were a very popular subject in the decoration of gutti.

Onion-shaped vessel with finely impressed ribs on the rounded exterior of the body.
The flat shoulder topped by a narrow neck with flared bell mouth. The thin handle curves from neck to shoulder.
The vessel is covered with an attractive jet black glaze that creates a brilliant reflection in any light.
Reserved just above and underneath the base.

Massive faiance figure in the shape of a fish, 19th. dynasty, 1292-1203 BC.

A museum quality sculpture of a Tilapia nilotica fish which is commonly found in the Nile River. This fish was greatly loved by the ancient Egyptians and it was used as a decorative motif on a variety of materials including stone, ceramics and glass. Here the fish has been fully finished with its green glaze covering touched with black pigment depicting eyes and other details.
