Incense burner in copper alloy (cast bronze and embossed and cut brass). Oriental work from the 19th century or before. Probably Ottoman but maybe Syrian? The hinge was consolidated by a riveted piece of metal and one of the three feet was replaced as one of the photos shows? The three legs are fixed to the base by a system of finely executed 'butterfly' nuts. The assembly is slightly twisted as can be seen in the photos. Height: 25cm Diameter: 20cm

A lovely large Assyro-Babylonian stamp seal with a particlarly interesting shape, carved of fine smoky grey calchedony, c. 9th.-7th. cent. BC.

The scaraboid is carved almost like an oval hat with a pointy raised center and sides tappering inwards. The engraving on the base is of a large seated winged animal in the drill style.

Authentic ancient 6th-10th Century A.D. Large Byzantine bronze pendant cross, with ribbed round-section arms, with bulbus finials centered by a notched stepped rectangle, an integral suspension loop above.

CONDITION: In its original condition showing the age and usage with a nice dark green-brown patina

Ancient egyptian faience ushabti for Padusir - 19,6cm

This ushabti figurine is depicted as a worker holding two hoes for work in the fields of Osiris in the afterlife. He is wearing a tripartite wig which falls down between the shoulders. He has an Osiris-type beard which ends in a tight forward curl. Only the hands, crossed over the chest and holding the already-mentioned agricultural implements, emerge from the mummiform shroud covering the entire body...

A really nice specimen of the sought after type III flint / silex dagger, c. 2000-1800 BC.

Very attractive and finely made neolithic dagger from the latest fase of the Danish stoneage neolithic period.

The dagger is classified within the type III group of daggers. The cross-section of the handle is square shaped and both surfaces and edges of the handle and blade has the classic "stitching" style of flaking. Stitched handles first appear with type III daggers...

A larger cylinder seal carved in a fine redish-orange stone, Middle Assyrian, provincial, later 2nd. millennium BC.

A puzzling piece made in patinated bronze or silver. The alloy is very white, so it could be silver too. Luristan, 1st. millenium BC. The piece is perhaps a horsebit or horse-equipment. It's decorated with two rams heads on each side of a long pole that has two bases.

Large and beautiful Late Gothic type of door or gate key, European, probably German, c. 1550 AD.

The key with enforced bit with slots, decorated hollow stem and a beautiful oval decorated bow. Much remnants of original copper metal on the stem and later silvering / tinned.

One of the largest tablet or brick seals, we've ever offered. Bifacial tablet seals can normally be dated to around the 3rd. millenium BC. This is so delicately carved that it could be made somewhat later in the 2nd. mill. BC.

The black serpentine seal depicts a large Bee, filling the whole of the seal, and on the other side a Scorpion. Particularly, the Bee is masterfully engraved, so that even tiny details and textures of the bee can be seen...

A nice and substantial Late Gothic type of chest or cupboard key, European, probably German, c. 1550 AD.

This ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1200 BC, is from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 7/16” long (11 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.
