The shape is known from North Italian makers like Strobilus, Atimeti and others.
Numerous variants of their products were also confectioned in Gaul and Germania, although it is not clear if by branch workshops of by plagiarisers.

This is a period where the neolithic tools became more specialised for certain tasks.
The pair consist of an polished, smaller axe and an unpolished chisel.

A large and exceptional Roman terractotta figure of the winged Eros walking, Roman Imperial, c. 1st. century AD.
Interesting early representation of Eros with preserved pigments in red.

A lovely lot of handpicked bronze stamp seals with fine caligraphy, Ottoman / Syrian?, c. 15th.-18th. cent. AD.
The lot incl. a couple of rare larger seals of fine style as well as early personal seals with greek letters!
Condition: Choice, fine patinas, one seal bend and one with handle lost.
Rare handmade askos of lenticular body and truncated conical neck.
The lip around the spout is shaped as an oversized disc. Its back was bent by the potter to create space for an unusual ring handle of square cross-section.
Decorated with orange and purplish black bands alternating with very thin fillets and diamond patterns.

A lovely little set of three smaller axes, one likely German or Northern Europe, dark bronze hardstone and finely polished (9,8 cm), a nice green stone Meso-American celt, also neolithic period (6,2 cm), and lastly a pointed butt type, likely ancient Near East or Northern Africa (7,8 cm). Interesting lot that needs more study!

Of a fine early Roman style, c. 1st. century AD and with inspiration from archaic art. Light red clay with a beige overlay. die-formed. Standing Aphrodite with her cloak wrapped around her legs and holding a shell in each hand. Provincial?! Head, one foot and large parts of the shells are missing.

Large head of Serapis shown with a fulsome beard and fringed hairdo over the forehead. On the crown a closed modius decorated with an olive branch.
The face with a small nose and flat eye cavities with thin eyelids. The mouth enclosed by a stringy moustache.
Modeled in the round. Two-piece mold with cursory back side. Remains of the original gesso layer in the cavities. Nice Hellenistic style.

Head of a theatrical actor wearing a slave mask.
The mask shows a funnel-shaped mouth and arched eyebrows over beady eyes. The flattish nose with pierced nostrils, the hair combed back with scattered curls behind the elongated neck.

Ancient Egyptian Faience Bead for Shabaka - ca. 5,7 cm
This is a rare and large ovoid bead which is pierced longitudinally. The top has a rounded surface inscribed with the cartouche of Shabaka „Amen Meri Nefer-Ka-Ra“ and below the expression „living forever“. On the flat side of the bead is an old tag attached
which is inscribed „Meri Amen - Nefer Ka-Ra (Shabaka) (XXV Dyn) Live for ever - 1808“

Serpentine Horus falcon, with defined wings, beak and tail feathers. Late Period, 600-30 B.C. 1 1/4 inches high X 1 1/8 inches long. Intact. From an old French collection.

A lovely and sizeable terracotta bust on a plint of a muscular young man, Time of Hadrian, ca. mid 2nd. century AD.
A very attractive bust with a wide strong chest and painted facial details in black pigment. His hair is rather long and he is arising from a round plint as was the typical for the Imperial Roman busts.
The bust is possible depicting Antinous, Hadrians famous lover.
