A fine 11" x 8" Satsuma model of an official seated in a wood grained horse shoe style chair, clothed in finely painted robes and trousers and holding a feather fan. Excellent detail and fine crackle finish. Ex-Sotheby's New York.

Japanese female mask in the style of a Noh mask. This face may have been considered beautyiful many years back, but now it carries a heavy-duty insult to any ladies if they were to be called Otafuku-chan or Okame-san in Japanese. Otafuku-kaze is the mumps and there are popular snack beans called Otafuku-mame, shaped exactly like this face.

This antique Iga vase is a true beauty, made of wonderful native Iga clay.

The vase was made between 1800 - 1850 during the later Edo Period and is in great antique condition. No chips or repairs. It comes with an old wooden box and an old cloth bag (which has a small torn part).

The Detail in hand is finer and more impressive than what is shown in these blown up images. It displays very well but unfortunately the bowl was broken and repaired. The price for this bowl is a fraction of the price an unresstored Yabu bowl would bring. Antique Japanese small Bizen ware oil lamp in the form of Fukurokuju, one of the 7 Lucky Gods. Easily identified by his elongated head on top of which is a small bowl for oil. His expression is kind and he sits holding a large gourd (hyotan) in both hands. Fukurokuju is believed to be a sennin, a philosopher who can exist without eating food. His name literally means "happiness" (fuku), "wealth" (roku) and "longevity" (ju).

This is a beautifully decorated large 12 inch Japanese Satsuma vase from Kinkozan. It is unique and rare piece because of the gold wisteria decorations. The painting and fine enameling are exquisite. A fabulous vase that is in overall excellent condition. At one time it was made into a lamp. The drill hole has been masterfully restored. It is signed on the underside with an impressed mark and was never signed in gold in the center bottom.

This is truly a museum worthy piece from the great satsuma artist, Seikozan. It is probably our all time favorite example from this artist. This vase is literally smothered with intricate enamel and gold work. The vase stands 9 1/2 inches tall. A terracotta figure of the Three Wise Monkeys - Mizaru who is covering his eyes, Kikazaru who is covering his ears and Iwazaru who is covering his mouth. Late 19th century Japanese porcelain trumpet vase decorated on a rose or bright puce ground with a long-tailed bird perched amongst trees and flowers. This is a rare Yabu Meizan Censer. It is not decorated with gold details and painting but is still an attractive item with its deep plumb glaze color. The first image is how it appears under normal lighting. It probably does not have the original cover but this silver one is more functional than the ivory covers we have seen.
