The box is 0.63 inch (1.6 cm) tall by 2.3 inches (5.85 cm) in length and 2.2 inches (5.5 cm) wide. It is 13 gram.

The outside of this elegantly understated container is simply semitransparent red lacquer over cloth in the Tame-nuri style opening to reveal an interior glowing with large patches of applied gold and silver. It is 20.5 cm (8 inches) square, 10 cm (4 inches) tall and in overall excellent condition, with minor marks from use on the bottom. Inside the box is contained a number of papers as well as a receipt from the late Meiji period, circa 1910.

Antique Japanese inro with three compartments, made of wood with gold lacquer and inlaid with gold flecks. One side is decorated with a pair of cranes and sprouting pines. The other side of the inro depicts an ancient turtle who carries, on his back, a large rock formation. Phoenix soar among golden clouds on this amazing Lacquer box made for holding a Tsuzumi drum by Miura Meiho (1900-1975) enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Houn Maki-e Tuzumi Bako.
