Very unusual 19th century metal ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) in a shape of tokkuri (sake bottle) inside a wooden box, just the way sake is served in traditional restaurants in Japan. Very clever design in Japanese wabi-sabi taste, beautiful crisp work - see the texture of the box. Bronze with excellent gilding, great patina. Height 9/16 inches.

Fine Japanese enameled porcelain tobacco bowl, with the interior and exterior decorated with floral design, late 19th century period. Size; Height of bowl is 2 1/2 inches with diameter of 5 1/2 inches. Condition Report; This item is in good condition, with the exception of tiny chip to the enamel at the well of the bowl.

A rare antique Japanese Choba Tansu (merchant chest) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. Original hand forged iron hardware including the Kikute handles and Urushi lacquer finish). Unusual design with two small drawers secured by a locking security bar and two sets of doors with the upper set having a spacious storage area behind and the bottom set having storage to the left and three small drawers to the right...

This is Sashiko kimono used in Kaga area Kanazawa for the Meiji period. As for this, cotton is dyed with a natural indigo plant. The cotton is spun by hand. This is a very good texture. The pattern of Sashiko is a leaf of Basho. There are no stain, damage. The state is complete. Size: 132cm x 122cm (51.9 "x 48")

Cotton han-juban (short under kimono) with katazome (stencil resist dye), whose motif is a kind of "Seigaiha", the traditional wave pattern. It is hand spun cotton and vegetable indigo dye. The collar cloth is also hand-spun cotton dyed with sumi (ink). n good condition but has some parts fade in color. The second half of the 19th century. W:114cm, L:62cm

Large and heavily potted porcelain body, decorated in an nice pale cobalt blue in Shunzui style and with medallions showing flying birds and wild gees, birds sitting on branches, sailboats and Fujiyama mountain. Japan, nineteenth century. Diameter: 42 cm. H : 33 cm. Condition: Broken at one area to the rim. This broken area would be absolutely suitable to ennoble the piece with a most beautiful Kintsugi repair ( Gold lacquer repair, please see the images ).

A Japanese tissue or cloth holder for a tea ceremony, finely woven with a diamond design, the interior lined in leather, all held together with an ivory clasp carved as a lion's head (shishi) mask, Taisho period.

Late Meiji (1890s to 1912) Japanese boxwood seal, most probably used in a temple to stamp pilgrimage papers. The impression of the seal is shown on the first photo (image is flipped left to right to present the image as it will actually print on paper). Excellent quality crisp carving of 2 rows of differently sized characters, caked old red seal paste on the bottom. Metal stud on the side indicates the position of the top of the imprint. Beautiful patina on the surface of wood...

Japanese rare hand-woven fabric made from asa (hemp), with an ikat egasuri weave, rice field patterns with yin yang symbols, in cool shades of grey, brown, and black. 19th century Size: 70.5" x 38.5"

Japanese Stag Horn Monkey Netsuke, 18th C. Edo period, 2 3/4" high, 1" wide, 1 1/4" deep, Monkey is holding huge Mushroom. The condition is good, old patina is lustrous.

Tsuba in cut iron, details inlaid in solid gold. The characters are excessively in relief, thickness of the tsuba 4.8 mm and 9.6 mm for the characters. Diameter: 76mm. Decor representing Jô and Uba with their broom and rake under a pine tree. This refers to the legend of 2 lovers who, united for life, were very happy and together became very old. They died the same day at the same time. Their spirit lives in 2 old pines, one in Sumi-Yoshi and one on the beach of Taka-Sago...

A fragment of cotton cloth with tsutsugaki turtle and crane design which is an auspicious motif. The cloth is hand-spun cotton and natural dye. It is probably a fragment of nobori (banner). It has calligraphy in one of the hems, but not readable. In good condition. The first half of the 19th century. 32cm x 74.5cm

It has pretty design of Shiranuki design and flower design outside which used blank area with nice contrast. We have a particular interest in beautiful old Raku tea bowls and spend quite a bit of time searching for exceptional examples to include in our gallery. Here we see a beautiful work that appears to be at least 100-200 years old which would place its era of production in late Edo or Meiji...

Japanese antique fu-dog carving for temple. Also called a shishi, the mythical creature is shown here with blossoming peonies. The shishi and peony together is called Karajishi in which the ferocious beast is tempered by the beautiful queen of flowers, Yin and Yang. Carved from one solid piece of sugi (cryptomeria) wood.

Nice little teapot in satzuma earthenware. Decorated with a landscape of madarin ducks, symbol of marital happiness. Original handle in woven bamboo fibre. Signature of the artist, I did not look for it but I can do it on request. Perfect condition. Width about: 11cm
