An antique Japanese 3 section Isho Tansu made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. Upper section has two sliding doors behind which is a 1/2 split level shelf with 3 side by side drawers below. Center and bottom sections each have 2 large drawers for abundant clothes storage. All original bronze and iron hardware with an acquired original patina.

Japanese tetsubin or tea pot, typically constructed from iron with a large handle to be hung over a fire pit. The tea pot has a bronze lid with a flower shaped finial. Its body is covered in small protruding studs, incised rings around its widest point, and its foot has old patina.

This is a finely carved Japanese Netsuke, made during the 1st Half of the 19th Century, depicting a Blind Oni reading a calligraphy long scroll with a girl. Well carved piece with character and some handling wear. Signed on the bottom Shoryu, a carver who worked during the 1st half of the 19th century, in Japan, according to George Lazarnick in his book 'Netsuke and Inro Artists and How to Read Their Signatures'. Netsuke measures 1.57 inches (4.0cm) wide, and 1.06 inches (2.7cm) tall.

This early 20th century carved coral netsuke of an Oni (devil) mask is 1 ½” long, 1” wide and ½” thick. It depicts a very nicely carved and impressive Daikijin. One horn has been repaired. Aside from that, it is in great condition.

Japanese Iwami Kurogaki Netsuke: Gama Sennin with Toad This is a finely hand-carved netsuke in Kurogaki (Black Persimmon) wood of a Gama Sennin with a Toad on top of his shoulders, by an unknown artist from the Iwami Province carved sometime during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. This is a fine, 18th century Japanese Netsuke depicting a monk laying on top of Hotei's Bag of Treasures. Wonderful expression with beautiful patina, what has torn golden from use on the bottom. Unsigned. Netsuke measures 1.88 inches (4.8cm) wide, 1.22 inches (3.1cm) deep, and, 0.92 inches (2.4cm) tall. It is in excellent condition.

This Japanese ceremonial Tenmoku style chawan (tea bowl) is a late Meiji period product. It is 5 ½” in diameter at the top, the foot is 1 ½” in diameter and 2” high. It has a very dark brown with white textured spots on the exterior. The base is not glazed and there is a swirl mark in the center. The interior of the chawan is richly colored black, dark brown, light brown and grayish blue. It is in excellent condition.

A Japanese hand forged iron tsuba. A tsuba is an important fitting on a samurai's sword to protect their hands from the blade and provide balance. This tsuba has cast motifs of a 5 petal flower and oblong hole. The tsuba is from the Myochin school (1573-1867).

This is a rather rare Early 19th century netsuke depicting a book and a hat placed atop a richly decorated stand. Possibly a one-o-a-kind theme. Signed Hidetomo. Netsuke measures 0.75 inches wide (1.9cm), 1.12 inches (2,8cm) long, and 1.27 inches (3.2cm) tall.

This is a very fine Japanese Netsuke hand-carved during the Meiji Period of Japan by Ruygetsu. It depicts a Sumo Wrestler, who is wearing the typical Mawashi with a heavy twisted rope, which is bound in the back in the typical ‘unryu’ knot. Intricate and true to form detail have been carved in this remarkable miniature sculpture...

Antique Japanese kyodai (vanity box with mirrors). With three hinged mirrors that close inward. The back mirror swivels up and down. The box has 8 drawers of various sizes. The box is carved with peony flowers. The backs of the mirror panels are carved so that when it is closed they display large peony flowers on one panel and a fu-dog on the other. Carved all over with a faceted texture and finished with red and black negoro lacquer...

An antique Japanese small Choba Tansu chest made of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. Original bronze hardware. Sliding doors where merchant stored business records and books 4 drawers below where valuables money and writing supplies were kept. Straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nail construction. Merchant store name written at the base that ha worn over time.

Beautiful Antique Japanese tea kettle. Made in iron, there are vertical striations down the sides of kettle overlayed with bunches of grapes and vines, as well as flying birds. The guard shape of the kettle and handle symbolizes the seasonal autumn months and harvest. The kettle lid models a bronze red two toned beautifully lacquered glazing. Flower like details in bronze circle the top of lid. Inscription inside lid reads Ryubundo, the noted studio produced iron tea kettles. From Meiji period...

An antique Choba Tansu (merchant chest) made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. All original bronze hardware. Three drawers with a pair of hinged doors that open to a spacious interior with two side by side drawers. This area was used to store the merchant records and books while all the drawers were used to secure valuables and provide easy access to merchant tools and accessories.
