Korean Buncheong ware bowl with motif of six flowers forming a large flower at the center. It is bordered with flower petal pattern,then with an outer floral patterned band. The exterior is decorated with a a band of spots. The design is stamped into the clay, a white slip fills in the gaps, and a clear glaze coats the piece creating the contrast of white and gray under a smooth surface. Age: Joseon Period. Luxurious and heavy Korean Amamori (leaking rain) Incense Burner Kōro from Edo period.

The irregular shape and the base resemble Japanese Wabi Sabi tea bowls which tells that this piece was made specifically for Japanese market.

Amamori means the surface stained with spots that look like rain leaks on a wall creating beautiful complex scenery.

Amusingly molded as a recumbent figure of a mythical lion-dog, the surface details incised and realistically molded, decorated in a washy underglaze blue beneath a white glaze, the base unglazed. It’s in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs, it measures in inches:3” L. x 2 3/8” w. x 1 3/8” h. (7.5cm x 6cm x 3.5cm).
