This carved ox horn statue of a fairy is an early 20th century product. It depicts a fairy with one hand holding a flower branch while her other hand is holding a bamboo basket with more flowers inside. It is 10 ¼” high (11 ¼” high with base), 3” wide from the bottom and 2 ¼” in depth. Aside from small chips on the bottom rim, it is in great condition.
For festivals including her wedding, a Yao girl of marriageable age would wear the traditional "celestial crown" clipped to her hair on the top of her head. This traditional ornament was common among the Yao of Laos, Thailand and China's Yunnan Province. Chinese white glazed Blanc de Chin Double Gourd Vase with incised 4 Ruyi with 3 flower petals inside each Ruyi design, 19th century, 5 1/2" high, 2 1/8" diameter-bottom rim, 1/2" diameter-top rim, 4" wide-widest middle section of the vase, unglazed bottom and sand got stuck around bottom rim during firing and also large sand firing mark on the side of the vase about 1/2" long, all the dots and dark area is kiln imperfect markings. Top has some tiny frits.
