Chinese white jade vase carving of Liu Haichan or "Master Sea-Toad", a 10th century Daoist xian immortal, with a string of square-holed coins and his mythical three-legged money toad. Lotus pods, peonies, birds, and waves are carved all around the body of the jade vase. The base is carved wood into reticulated root pattern.

Very hard to find Chinese scholar's desk plank. Made of huanghuali wood, the plank has aged beautifully having a wonderful warm golden patina with a beautiful sheen. There are 3 minor age cracks at 3 of the 4 corners. These cracks do not compromise the integrity of this incredible scholar's item, but instead attests to its age. Planks were used to set objects on that a Scholar was using. He could have also used it to display an item or items. Measures 15" x 6.5" x .5"

Rare Mid Edo Period choba, merchant's chest, from the Sakata area, made of kiri (paulownia) wood with original patina (not refinished), nice iron hardware, interior (behind sliding panels) contains set of five drawers (three on the right, 2 on the left) and one hidden drawer. Incredibly rare Large oversized iron handles flanking each side of the chest.

Antique Miao comb made of wood and silver. Flowers, birds and dragons designs. The ring on top was used to secure the comb in the hair, with a chain by instance.

There are a total of eight signs, each with a different "saying" having to do with well wishes. Due to the age of the calligraphy, and the vagueres of the old Chinese language, accurate translations have not been possible for each sign. Each sign is carved out of wood with raised wooden characters and inlayed with MOP flakes. Each is 21 inches tall and roughly 4.5 inches wide. Only one of the most beautiful wood and lacquer Chinese baskets or round box ever to pass through my hands, this stunning beauty measures 9" high with the finial x 9" diameter and has strong decorative appeal, as well as being a genuine antique. The lid has a foo dog finial and is surrounded by Buddhist symbols, truly stunning details and exquisitely carved in low relief. The box dates circa 1890, really beautiful when you consider that the box is over 118 years old.
