A very rare small box, made of embossed brass, lavishly decorated with various designs on its lid and body. On the lower part of its body the design is a series of "niches" containing effigies of deities and also the portrait in profile of an important person, probably a king. This is a design for a kimono with a leafing vine surrounding a lacquer calligraphy box with inkstone and brushes in tones of grays and black with only the calligraphy brushes having red and yellow handles. The grain of the woodblock shows through the background of the kimono. Printed on mulberry paper and probably a leaf from a design album. Large green glazed Shiwan pottery teapot in the shape of a water bucket with a pour spout, small lid, and carrying handle. In very good condition save for a tiny flea bite on the spout, it measures about 10.5” high (to top of handle) x 9" diameter (10” across including spout). Dates circa 1885.

Chinese Porcelain turquoise color man Figure sitting on the rock, 3" high, 2 3/4" wide, 1 1/2" deep, made before 1920's. His nose and one(1) foot got stuck during firing in the kiln, when this figure was removed from the other object, he lost his side of nose and one(1) foot. Impressed mark "China" on the unglazed bottom.

Chinese Green and yellow glazed Pottery Figure, two(2) men with large fish , 7" high, 3" wide, 3" deep, 3 1/4" diameter-bottom. There are some glaze chips and tight glaze hairline about 2" long around back side of the neck of the standing man behind.

Chinese porcelain teapot with a ribbed body. A lovely scene depicting daily garden life with men and women surround the body. A bat hovers over symbolizing good fortune. There is some expected age related wear to the gold, but otherwise in good condition, no chips, no cracks, no hairlines, it measures 5" high x 5" diameter (7" across if including the spout). Two panel Japanese folding screen with image of two deers set on a grassy meadow-like surrounding with a waxing gibbous moon set on the left panel screen. The simple watercolor appearance, minimalist lines, and motif like appearance of the images are the signature elements seen in most Rinpa School. Age: Edo Period (18th-19th century). Burmese carved and painted marble head of Buddha, beautiful serene expression, exquisitely subtle details for example the carved arching brows and slightly smiling mouth, black hair with traces of gold, 18th century. Comes with black metal stand. Age: 17th-18th century. Total size on stand: 26 1/4" high x 8 1/2" wide x 8 1/2" deep.

The quality of the carving is extraordinary. This bamboo brush pot comes from an old German collection, there still is an old inventory number to the base of the piece. There is a Chinese inscription to the piece which can be translated as follows : "the boat is ready to go to heaven, the prince will go seek help from god". Qing Dynasty, nineteenth century or earlier. H : 14,4 cm. Diameter : 10,9 cm. Condition : Perfect with a nice patina.

A Chinese abacus with Huanghuali wood frame and beads, the back board is of soft wood; the rods are of bamboo except two metal ones. Late Qing Dynasty. Condition: minor chips and cracks on wood and bamboo rods as shown on enlargements; nice patina. Size: 13-3/8"X6-3/4"X1-1/8".

The painting depicted court musicians playing divine music called Bugaku. Bugaku is a Japanese court music accompanied by dancing. Here one of the players plays shen (a bamboo instrument first produced in China in 7th century) and the other one sounds a massive drum with mitsudomoe crest (three comma-shaped figures in a circle). Bugaku carries a ritualistic implication and is usually played at the start before dance performance begins. Bugaku purifies the stage. Painted with ink and pigments...

Size : 17,5cm wide, 11 high. Conditions : Good condition except inside the lid possible has been cut little bit. Free from any hairlines and restorations.
