An interesting and very finely made massive opium weight, Late Shan, 19th./20th. cent.
Peculia weight or figure in the general shape of a 'Kissing bird' of the Shan Burma, but with some added features in the form of fine engravings and a handle.
The figure comes from a very good old collection and is in our opinion genuine old and antique. It weighs around 700-750 grams and was likely made in the very end of the period with opium weights as a unofficial decorative piece...
Large Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Horse & Rider with Oxford TL Test
This impressive pottery horse and rider was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a buff-coloured pottery and is quite "heavily-potted". It has been cold-painted in various coloured pigments, good traces of which still remain. The horse stands upright and alert with its head and neck turned very slightly to its left...
Coral red tea bowl and saucer, the bowl with rocky landscapes in blue, green and black in reserves, the saucer with the same decoration depicted on a paper scroll. The black lines are hand painted like the rest, so probably Chinese, Jiaqing period. The lotus scroll work on the tea bowl with traces of silver, now oxidized. Fine cowrie shell necklace from northwest Burma, probably Naga on a hand woven macramé cotton cord. This is an old set, circa 80 years with an excellent worn natural patina and almost porcelain like surface these need to be handled to be appreciated. Please note that each bead is hand carved to nest into the other so when strung together and worn the necklace hangs in a circular fashion...
