This wonderful Japanese banko nodder is somewhat unusual in that his head nods side to side rather than front to back like most nodders on the market. Dating circa 1880-1899, he was hand molded as evidenced by indentations and finger prints left by the artist on the inside of the bell/body. In excellent condition with the exception of one repair to the neck. At some point in his history, the weight broke in half and was re-attached. No other condition issues, no chips, cracks...

Carved in fine detail is this deep red cinnabar box of a scholar with young boy in a garden setting. The Zhuang are one of the larger of the Chinese Ethnic Minority groups. This is a rare old baby carrier from Yunnan Province. Because silk was not readily available in the rural areas, the use of silk as the background fabric indicates that this carrier came from a wealthy family. The central panel uses several colors of fabric appliqued into a large stylized lotus flower. Silk thread is used for the delicate satin stitched embroidery of butterflies and flowers...
This is a pair of antique rare dehua glaze type Foo dog or lion joss stick holder from Ming To Song period, apparently it is a pair of male and female foo dog, there is a hole on the back made for firing purpose, moulded. This piece is an ancient bronze bell from southeast Asia. It is likely from the Khmer culture around the 12th century but stylistically it could be considerably older. It has a beautiful blue and green patina with traces of soil encrustations and fabric. It is approximately 7.5 cm tall, 6.8 cm wide and weighs 251 grams.

This beautiful blue and white porcelain bowl is from the Ming dynasty and was recovered from an un-named shipwreck off the coast of southeast Asia. It has a small crack (visible in the photos) but is in otherwise spectacular condition. Inside the bowl is a crane in reeds and on the outside are mandarin ducks and lotus flowers. There is a small blemish on the outside from years of underwater exposure. It measures roughly 19 cm across.

A 10.8" square tray signed Teizan and sealed Kinzan, mid Meiji period, depicting an unfortunate encounter between a hawk and a goose.
Condition: Quite good overall condition, There is a faint nick and short enamel crack to the front of the tray, two small areas of enamel cracking to the reverse, and pitting usual to the period. No dents or restoration.

This three piece Satsuma pottery vessel is enameled entirely in shades of blue with gold accents over a very fine crackle ground. The top is decorated with a fierce dragon on a field of white, enclosed in a blue border. The small inner lid bears a scattering of blossoms. Between the banded shoulder and base of the piece, the artist has painted in fine detail a fishing hamlet. Five inches in height, this is a lovely and unusual example of blue Satsuma ware.
