Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Qingbai Glazed Porcelain Covered Jar
This attractive small covered jar was made during the 13th / 14th Century (Song / Yuan Dynasty). It is quite "heavily-potted" for its type and is coated inside and out in a pale Qingbai-type glaze. The glaze falls short of the sturdy foot and the underside of the cover also remains unglazed. Jian ware black glazed bowl with fine russet hare’s fur streaks. Southern Song dynasty. No chips or cracks but there are areas where the glaze from another piece had fallen onto it during firing- the "wabi sabi" is strong in this one, suitable for a Japanese Tea Ceremony. A Fine, delicate and genuine SONG Period, SAWANGKALOKE-SISACHANALAI, SIAMESE-THAI GREEN CELADON VASE/JARLET,14-15th Century, with 2 intact shoulder loops. It also has distinct incised ringed ribbing towards, and especially on the neck. Very good condition, no chips, cracks, hairlines, restorations nor repairs.

The cylindrical Linguam carved in deep relief with eight horizontal bands of Linguams. The piece topped by a blossoming lotus flower.
This splendid, rare, sandstone piece is 80 cms (2.7 Ft) on its mount.
The Khmer Linguam dates back to Angkor Baphuon period, 11th Century.
Acquired by the Gallery in late 2012, previously acquired in early 30's and thence by descent.

This attractive small covered jar was made during the 13th / 14th Century (Song / Yuan Dynasty). It is coated inside and out in a pale greenish Qingbai glaze that is finely crackled in places. The dome-shaped cover has a carved pattern to give it the appearance of a tiled roof; this jar represents a granary. To the inner surface are the remains of ancient plant/root growths from its long burial.
