Shallow bowl-shaped dish is raised on a tall foot and is decorated in underglaze blue with a branch of cherry blossoms encircling the interior. The painting is well-executed and the image is possibly based on a textile design. The underside is painted with three chrysanthemum sprays and the foot is decorated with the characteristic comb tooth pattern. A rare and unusual Arita dish made for export to the West decorated with the subject of a Chinese Lady and her attendant viewing Plum blossom. It is probably adapted from a Chinese transitional original. The dish measures 8.5 inches in diameter and is in good condition with cracks, chips or restoration, except for some light crazing to a portion of the reverse and some glaze skip along the rim. The dish dates to the period 1680-1700
