Interesting cross hanger, carved in a dark steatite stone, with white slip or glazing. The white cross form is inlaid with another red cross form in sandstone or ceramics and done with an extra cross bar. Christian Egypt, 100-500 AD, probably Coptic.

Size: 11,7 cm. tall and 9,7 cm. wide.

Condition: Choice and intact with wear to the white glaze and extensive patination.

Antique Japanese ikebana basket. Tall, arching handle and round form body made of split bamboo tightly woven in a horizontal chevron pattern. Portions of the handle are wrapped and held together with decorative knots. A wide mouth lends itself to many different arrangement styles.

An antique Khmer stone sculpture of Mahā Paramasangata Pada (Jayavarman VII), added to our family collection in 1930 from a private Japanese collection. It was made in mid 19th century.

Lacking any royal or divine attributes, this King Jayavarman VII statue represents Buddha as a simple, spiritual man.

His facial expression is accentuated by semi-closed eyes, a slight smile, large forehead, lips that are neither thin nor thick, and long ear lobes...

Antique Chinese bronze censor in the form of a snarling foo dog sitting upright, holding a xiu qui ball in his front paws attached to a long tassel. His head is hinged so that incense may be placed inside the body, which will then billow out from his mouth. Overall great form and nice patina, Ming Dynasty 17th century Size: 8" height, 9" width

Rare gilt bronze pendant, of circular form, with a finely embossed decoration representing a soldier beating a seated man with a whip, the whole scene surrounded by geometric design. Antique Japanese Kimono Bo Tansu from the Iwayado area of Northern Japan. Constructed of quarter sawn Toneriko (Tamo Ash) wood with striking grain and a translucent lacquer finish. The frame is made of Sugi (Cryptomeria) wood with an opaque wiped lacquer finish. Hardware is hand made all of iron and includes Warabite shaped drawer pulls with unusual raised Pine and Peach back plates...

Description:

An ancient stone beast was in nice mood.
In twisted body posture, the beast or dragon with bulging eyes, wide mouth and extruding fangs was supposed a peaceful animal by the pattern on his back, a swirling TaiChi cloud.
The sculpture was well preserved except the abrasions down under due to age.

Date: Song/Yuan Periods, 12th/13th Century.

An porcelanous stoneware dish with an well balanced shape. The very nice incised "Lotus decoration" covered with a nice Celadon glaze. Five Dynasties, Yue ware, Yue Yao. Diameter : 14,1 cm. Condition : Perfect. Nice glaze and a very nice, high "ping" tone when tapped. ( This what at one of the images looks like a chip seems to be covered by the original glaze )

Unusual 19th century Indian votive bronze bell with handle in a shape of monkey God Hanuman with his hands in front of him in praying attitude, his tail forming a halo around his head.
