Antique Goyard Trunk, early 1900's, from the estate of noted Opera Soprano Geraldine Farrar (America, b. 1882; d. 1967). She had her Metropolitan Opera debut in 1906, and performed opposite Enrico Caruso in 1907 in the American premiere of Madame Butterfly, and was later a celebrated Carmen. Bronze box with patinated surface and some cold painting, stamped Made in Austria on bottom. Measures 6 1/8" wide, 3 1/2" deep, and 2 1/8" high. Lined with wood. The sides are all hammered, and the top has a raised design depicting a camel at rest, and two figures praying. Measuring 6" high, and 10 3/8" wide, this is a remarkably well sculpted image of a lion, functioning as an inkwell or inkstand. The recumbent lion has wonderful detail, and clearly portrays the regal posture of the legendary King of the Beasts. English mahogany reading stand. Circa 1850. This stand features a finely turned pedestal that supports a reading surface with opposing fold-up slopes and brass page restraints. A matching pair of Shaker #3 rockers from the Mount Lebanon, NY community. 19th century. Each chair bears a '3' branded on the upper back slat, and one chair displays a Mt. Lebanon manufacturer's stamp on the third back slat. Excellent condition, retaining an old pecan colored finish and with woven beige and blue cloth tape seats. There is a minor split to one leg where it joins with the runner (but still structurally sound). Dimensions: 34" ht. x 19 3/8" width x 25" depth.

WMF is the short form in current company use by the highly regarded German metal manufacturer Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik which began in 1853 in Geislingen an der Steige.
