Brilliant colors are blended into the layeres of clay forming this fabulous vessel by Matsui Koyo enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Ryohai-yu Neriage Saihamon Tsubo. It is roughly 29 cm (just less than 12 inches) diameter and in excellent condition.

Pleasant crackle style chawan with Rimpa influenced design under and over the glaze. This chawan was made by veteran Kyoto native potter, Suzuki Soji who was a student of Tomimoto Kenkichi. Suzuki's chawan now days can cost 200,000 yen and more.

This chawan is in excellent condition and does not have a box.

A round form covered in fissured green celadon by Kishimoto Kennin enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Seiji Chawan and endorsed inside by Zen Priest Tachibana Daiki of Daitokuji Temple, home of the Tea Ceremony.  Profound, like an empty blue sky, the form floats lightly over the dark clay of the perfectly formed kodai base.  It is signed within that base ring by Kennin.

A spectacular work of charred dark clay by legendary potter Kakurezaki Ryuichi enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled simply Kuro Bizen.  The angular form rises from a triad of block feet flaring out before breaking upon three sharp points at the shoulder, a narrow neck rising with a slight flare.  Dark upon one side clings blue-gray ash separated from the raw dark clay by a thin bead of pale brown color.  Texture, form, color, this one has it all!

An incredible mixture of colors glisten like the walls of a Limestone cave in the hills of Akiyoshidai, the karst regtion south of Hagi where the important artist Kaneta Masanao created this bowl, enclosed in the original signed wooden box.  The style is Kurinuki, not formed on a wheel but cut and worked from a block of clay, an approach the artist is famous for.  The coloration is unusual, a dramatic leap from his usual subdued lavenders and whites.

The light-grey glazed interior of this piece makes an inviting backdrop for a smooth cup of saké. The exterior by contrast is matte with a slightly coarse texture making it easy to hold in the hand. Overall it has a decidedly modern feel to it however the techniques used to produce this attractive guinomi go back many generations.

Elegant and tall Hagi vase with a coating of lavender ash glaze diagonally across the body. A strong delineated collar for a mouth and two lugs on either side punctuate this vase. Though marked, I am unable to decipher the seal but my suspiscion is that the piece is by Yoshiga Taibi or Ono Zuiho. This piece is in excellent condition.
