This yellow gold double-cluster ring is composed of a cluster of rubies centered by a diamond, and a cluster of pearls centered by a ruby. In the center of each is a 6-pointed star motif in gold. Pearl is the birthstone for June, ruby is the birthstone for July. The ring is hallmarked for Birmingham, England, 15 karat gold (“15ct”), a date mark for 1877, and a maker’s mark for “P&E”. A fine example of a French-Flemish croix papillon (butterfly cross) from the northern region of France around Calais. Jewelry scholars believe these were actually made in Belgium (a French region at the time) where they were known as “croix à la Jeannette” (Jeanette crosses). They were popular across the French regions of Picardie and Pas-de-Calais and into Normandie. A wonderful Victorian/Art Nouveau pendant and brooch in the form of a mythological griffin grasping a diamond in its jaws. The creature’s open-winged pose is somewhat unusual for this type of jewel, as they tend to be more curled up in a more circular position. The pose, however, makes for wear as a dramatic pendant hanging from the pendant loops on each wing. The back also has a removable fitting so it can also be worn as a brooch...

Here is a coral garland (also referred to as “festoon” or “swag”) necklace, consisting of 8 coral cabuchons of graduated lengths and sizes. The three longest drops are on rigid bars. The coral is a lovely dark ox-blood red. Coral was believed to prevent bad luck, and to be an aid to meditation. The length is 15-1/4” (but it would be easy to get an extender if needed – we can help with that; just ask), and the decorated portion is 4-1/4” x 2-1/8” at the longest point...

Here is a fascinating Georgian-era ring, possibly a mourning ring, which could have been worn by one of Jane Austen’s more affluent characters. It features a rose-cut diamond (pointed top instead of flat), set in 14kt gold with decorations in black enamel on the shank, which are still in excellent condition. The ring is approximately size 5. It isn’t possible to estimate the weight of rose cut diamonds in a setting. It is in the I range for clarity – normal for its time. Unmarked...

This is one of our favorite rings! An elegant and lovely ring made from unmarked but tested 18k yellow gold and a sweet purplish-pink topaz. The ring is size 8, and could be resized. The topaz is set in a modified buttercup setting, with a single golden leaf curling up to meet the stone on either side, and with delicate detail work in the gold. It is in excellent condition. Topaz is thought to be a healing and energizing stone, to bring forgiveness, and promote truth...

This beautiful and classic brooch, in the style of Lucien Gautrait, features a flower and ribbon motif, with a circle of white enamel in the center. The pearl on the dangle may be a replacement (many dangles have had to be replaced over the years). The brooch is marked with the French eagle for 18k gold and partial owl marks with “73”, indicating a piece that was imported into France post 1893 and assayed in the town of Rouen...

This pretty pin is marked and tested as sterling silver. It features 5 rhinestones, and measures 1-3/4” x 1/2". It weighs 4.4g, and is in excellent condition. Two impressive winged lions with their backs on each other make up the body of this antique yellow and rose gold-filled watch key. Part of a small collection I acquired some time ago that will be presented within the next couple of weeks, it is a very nicely detailed figural "bauble", perfect to be enjoyed alone or added to your neck mess. The watch key measures 1 3/4" tall (including bail and pin) by 1 1/8" wide and it weighs 4.8 grams (for reference only since there is no precious metal here)...

This colorful brooch depicts a red poppy in full bloom, with green leaves and buds. It was made by the well-known Bippart Griscomb & Osborn Company of Newark, New Jersey. It is also stamped for “14k”. Measuring 1” x 1-1/4”, it has the long pin stem often found on antique jewels. There is an interestingly-shaped freshwater pearl mounted at the top, and another dangling below...

A sterling silver brooch #110, originally designed by Georg Jensen himself and produced 1908-1914. Based on the hallmarks shown on this example it was produced between 1933-44.

Measures about 2 3/4" in length and almost 1/2" at the widest. Marked GJ in a rectangle, 925, Sterling Denmark, and style #110.

Trombone clasp holds securely. In fine condition with some surface scratches and tarnish. Has a very minor ding to an orb at one end.

A modernist sterling silver ring by Oscar Aaroe, (1905-1996), a jeweler and silversmith born in Denmark who apprenticed with Georg Jensen and had his store on Palm Springs, California. This ring feels Southwestern in design and was probably influenced by the Native American silversmiths in the area.

Has a bezel set dark green - almost black smooth stone. Measures size 9.

This is one of our very favorite lavaliers! It is quintessential Art Nouveau. It depicts a flower with an amethyst at its center, with the classic whiplash motif. The central amethyst weighs approximately 1/2 carat, and it’s accented by 28 seed pearls. Feng Shui practitioners believe amethysts aid in purification, and give access to a higher plane of energy. This beautiful pendant is straight out of the Arts & Crafts movement; it’s very much in the style of Horner, but it’s unsigned. It is enameled in an intense blue with areas of a much lighter blue. The dropper shades from a pale green through a lighter blue into an intense blue, echoing the color of the main part of the pendant. This very Victorian grooming chatelaine is from the 1800s. It has a Chinese fish motif at the top, and dangling from that are 3 implements: a tweezers, one for cleaning nails, and an ear-cleaning device. (We saw a similar chatelaine on eBay, and the ear-cleaning implement was advertised as a device for opium users, but we don’t think so! However, as non-opium users, we could be wrong ….) It is unmarked but tests positive for silver, and with a patina consistent with age. It is lacking a belt...

This petite gold-filled Edwardian fan-shaped fretwork pin measures 15/16” x 7/8”. A bit worn in places, but still very nice. Oddly, the watch hanger tests as 10k. A sterling silver hand wrought brooch with a turquoise stone in a floral design by the noted Arts and Crafts jeweler, Mary Gage.

The brooch measures 1 1/8" in diameter and 1 1/8" high. Closes with a secure rolling clasp. Has a warm patina. Marked Mary Gage Sterling under one side of the clasp on the back. In a design with lots of tendrils that she is known for.

Has a very hand made feel, warm patina and organic design. Fine example of Arts and Crafts period metal work.

A wonderful vintage large copper and brass pendant depicting an acrobat by Ex-pat Ken Beldin, who lived in Tenencingo, Mexico and made jewelry and sculptures from 1940 through the 1960s. Suspended from leather cords.

The pendant measures 4" across and 3" tall. Has blue and green crushed stone inlay in the body and the small ball he is jumping over. Great contrast of verdigris and copper.

The leather cords measure 15" long on each side and tie at the back.
